She can be reached on Facebook by her friends, but appears to have stopped posting on forum sites.

With all the hostility on most Amiga forums, I can understand why she might have gotten tired of participating.  I wish that were not true, and maybe she has other reasons for being absent, but I know many members who have left for exactly those reasons.

She is probably having a break from Amiga. Perhaps she will return in the future.

IMO it is a slow period at the moment. When some new hardware comes out things will get exciting again.

Have you tried english amiga board?

I don't think Cammy posts in forums because Cammy is only a video game character.

Yes meny people left some forums because the actual amiga "comunity" sucks (theres many cool users).

You talk about hostility when you are a moderator in many forums.... if you see real hostility moderate them, uncensured or i-close-this-thread-because-im-worth.

Just a comment nothing personal.

I think forums like this are inherently a format for misunderstanding.  You can't use other senses to derive the real intent of the poster.  When a person feels misunderstood, it's easy to decide it isn't worth the time.

Cammy and others will be missed.  I hope they give us another chance.

Cammy is definitely real (AND really cute).
But she, like most of us, goes through phases.
As with most really intelligent people, occasionally a little malaise sets in, and its best to leave her alone.
If she feels like gracing us, I'm sure she will.

Cammy has been suffering from depression for a few years now. She kinda had a breakdown around the time she ran the first Amiga game making competition on her own while trying to support too many others at the same time. The problem is she's too nice and sensitive for her own good, and takes any critique or criticism to heart. She can't ask anyone for help and insists on doing everything herself even when she's barely capable. She used to have so much enthusiasm and life in her, but she's become a shadow of her former self.

That is very sad to hear.  She helped so many people here.  Her posts were always very thorough, in-depth, and accurate.

She will be in my prayers.

That is too bad to hear - she's one of the nicest forum posters I've met, and very passionate about the Amiga community. Hope things get better for her.

I agree with you, completely. I have truly missed her posts here.
I am learning some programming thanks to Cammy's posting - so she has helped me use my Amigas more fully.

If you have contact with her, please relate to her that she has many friends she may not even know.  She has always been a valuable contributor here and elsewhere, and her personality shows through as polite, sensible, and caring, to say the least.

If she should take anything personally it should be our well-wishes.

Erm guys, by talking about someones personal issues on a public forum you are possibly doing more harm than good, regardless of how well meaning you all are.

And sometimes it lets the person in question know how much people care for them and miss them in the scene, and lets them know if they need a helping hand, all they need to do is reach out.  Everyone needs a helping hand at some point.

I understand your point and applaud your tact, but it's a two way street and I don't believe anyone was meaning any harm towards Cammy.

I agree. Talking about someones mental illness in a public forum is inappropriate. Even if well intended.

Is it ?  Would you have the same issues with people talking about someone having a cold ?

This us the problem with mental illness, people still talk about it in hushed tones like it is a taboo subject.

Because of people's reluctance to talk about  mental illness it keeps the stigma alive.

Mental illness is no different to any other illness.  Everyone has or will suffer with some form of mental illness from time to time, even if they are willing to admit it or not.

it needs to be discussed more and talked about openly.  it is one of the biggest health issues of the western world but there  is no shame in it  or asking for help

Oh common.. This is something personal. Here in Germany everyone is moaning about less security for privacy. And a cold is not the same. Imagine someone judges you and thinks you are mental weak and not capable to do a Job (just an example).
Of course this is wrong but some People "may" think so.
It is a difference if the Person speak by her/himself about this.
If you like someone you should contact him and not post on a public Forum.
If this would be a Close community ok. But Google knows everything. What Google knows, knows Watson as well. And watson does already diagnostic Jobs for american clinics....

Fully agree with you there.

Although I was very young I do still remember when people referred to cancer as the big C.

I don't think this should be talked about openly unless it's Cammy's choice. This is her private life, and what is talked about regarding her should be up to her.

Yes, a mental illness is no different to any other illness, but I don't think a cold really compares somehow. And anyway, it doesn't matter about whether it should be discussed, or whether it's a taboo or not - it doesn't change the fact that this is HER private life and it should be HER choice what she makes public.

There are parts of my private life - like anybody else's - that aren't taboo at all, but I would still not like people talking about it on the net just because I happened to be part of that forum at one point.

I think this thread should be closed and/or deleted unless Cammy specifically says it's OK. Concerns about her should be directed to her, not to the public members of the forum.

Have to agree with the above points.  Although some of this information has already been mentioned in the past publically, it is private and there is no need for it to be discussed on a public forum, no matter how well intentioned.  If the person involved tells us otherwise, then fair enough, but as it stands this is not appropriate for this forum.
