Title: Help with Easynet Setup
Post by: carvedeye on August 22, 2014, 01:38:34 PM
Hi all I have been on all-night last night and all this morning trying to get easynet running, I have a virgin superhub (which is a netgear router) and no matter what I do in the settings I can not get the browser to load pages, I am able to ping from my windows pc to the Amiga and all is well. I have installed a new hard drive in to my system as I wanted a bigger drive and have a fresh install of OS 3.9 +BB1+BB2 and everything is working perfectly except for my internet connection. I have also added two pics of my settings.

Specs: Amiga 1200
           EZ Z4 Case
           M1230XA (64MB0
           Mediator LT4
           Voodoo 3 3000 (PCI Slot 1)
Radeon 9250 128mb (PCI Slot2) (Using ram as Fast Ram)
           USB card (PCI Slot 3)
           Realtek LAN Card (PCI Slot4)

Try changing your DNS to Google DNS IP addresses: 8.8.8.8     and 8.8.4.4

OR

You router's IP address, 192.168.0.1

I have a VM superhuman too. I had to put the VM DNS addresses in manually. https://www.whatsmydns.net/dns/uk/virgin-media.html.

I have tried my routers IP address but it doesn't work but I will try googles as I haven't tried that yet :)

Hi

Go to the Help menu select network configuration - can you post the output so I can see what the problem is?

So theres a DNS server at 192.168.4.100 and 192.168.8.100??? I would have thought your DNS server was your router....unless you've setup a DNS server (in this case two) on your network?

You also have multiple amitcp assigns?

Hi Lurch , I have taken out the assisgn for Genesis and changed the DNS from the virgin media and used the routers IP but it just hangs :(

What's in your user-startup and startup-sequence? :-)

Anything in wbstartup? Remove anything that mentions genesis.

Also try putting your ISP DNS in there.

Using another version of AMITCP from Genesis will cause problems and conflicts because EasyNet will try and use the other AMITCP assign for its files which are configured by Genesis.    Please repost the network configuration now you have removed the Genesis assign, rebooted and restarted EasyNet.

Also you have no hosts setup.

Well I have decided to go back to using Genesis instead and I am now back online. So much for Easynet being easy :(

I think the issue is genesis clashing with easynet. So you need to remove genesis completely including amitcp then install easynet.

Probably not worth the effort if genesis is working though :-)

If it's not broken leave it alone I say, especially in Amiga land.
