Title: How to change AmiDock to a more modern dock?
Post by: carvedeye on August 08, 2014, 01:24:56 PM
Hi all I am wanting to change amidock to a more modern dock, now I know there is a lot of docks on aminet but what I want to know is which is more modern (kind along the lines of AOS 4) and when installed will it replace the original amidock?

The best dock I have found for features and controls is toolmanager.

It isn't modern from the standpoint of being updated recently, but it was very well written and works perfectly.

I converted a bunch of artwork and icons to greyscale for toolmanager docks and I'm satisfied with the clean look.  Not sure if it fits the AOS 4 experience you were looking for, but you can make TM look like about anything and the drag and drop config feels fresh to me...

Good luck.

If you want to remove/replace AmiDock, all you need to do it move it out of WBStartup (and move your replacement into WBStartup if it doesn't load automatically in user-startup).

The look really depends on the icons you use.

here's an example of what can be done:

Something like that would be great :)
