Title: New Amiga keyboards?
Post by: freqmax on August 06, 2014, 12:39:31 AM
Has there been any successful replication of Amiga style keyboards..? Connectors, plastic chassi etc should be easy. The hard part ought to be the keyboard by using the right plastic type, shape, size and perhaps tactile feeling.

One could for example then place an FPGA Replay inside a plastic box with a keyboard. And it would work and look like an Amiga. Even for external hardware connections. Brand new..

I don't know of any but that would be great. I guess it is too expensive to organise the tooling.

800 USD per keyboard was the quote I heard many years ago. Kind of steep. But with all this send-files-to-mould-factory and 3D-printing. Perhaps there's new oppertunity. Unless some cheapo Chinese factory can just "re-adjust" regular PC keyboard manufacturing.
