Hey all, I need a little help.
I have purchased a Prelude 1200 and managed to install it in my crowded tower using a clockport extension cable (thanks, amigakit). Initially, all seemed to work fine, cd-rom and regular audio were redirected through the prelude 1200 panel and while I couldnt get any audio from the prelude 1200 itself, I was confident this would be merely a software issue and something I would solve in a few minutes.
Now that it is finally a bit cooler over here I'm attempting to fix this issue. I have downloaded the latest Prelude Install package and -library, but prlTest keeps failing for me. I did test it in the machine of the guy I was buying it from, and there the test went fine, so I'm quite sure the card is not broken.
I thought of conflicts, so I booted into a clean Workbench 3.1 install, same problem. Prltest keeps saying the prelude sound card cannot be found. When I run c:preludereset I can hear a clicking sound, so I assume it is working in some way..
Things I am suspecting:
Are there reported issued with rev 2B motherboards?
Did I miss something during installation? The installer program installed everything on the wrong partition, so I manually copied library and preludereset over, I assume thats all I need?
Did I connect the cables the right way? This Im suspecting myself, since I have no manual and the few pictures I could find online show me mixed results, for example compare these 2 pictures:

Is there someone here with a working config that can help me out?
Thanks!

am I the only prelude 1200 user here? :(

What accelerator are you using?
This forum post might help, some good information there :-)

thanks much for trying to help me! unfortunately, the scanned manual I had already found (and didnt help much) and the second link is about someone who has got his card working already. mine does not. Ive been in contact with ACT and even though he was very helpful, I still havent got this issue solved. I really wonde rwhat Im doing wrong.

Does the prelude work without the clockport extender cable?
-
nope.. still cant be found.

I remember that my A1200 (I don't remember what revision it was) had the clock port header soldered on the wrong end of the pads. I had to solder a new header on the remaining, empty pads, so that I could plug my Melody 1200 card.
-
I have heard of that, but that is not the case here. The clockport is in the right place. But perhaps it is conflicting with something? Its very difficult to take all the hardware out, I'd rather not go that far. But when I disable ppc/06 by holding down '2', the card is still not recognised.

I vaguely remember (but I might be very well wrong) about conflicts between clockport and PCMCIA devices (not the one with RAM expansions above 8MB). Try unplugging your Ethernet card and try again, worth a shot IMHO.

yes, been thinking about this for a while. and I noticed at some point the pcmcia card wasnt recognised. I will report back.

Aaaaaaaargh!
Let this be a warning for everyone dealing with this issue. There are 2 versions of PrlTest around on the internet. The one I downloaded from the old ACT support site was different from the one I obtained in 'some other manner' (I forgot!). After taking my Amiga apart and still having no luck running PrlTest (card can not be found), I went looking for the disk I used to test the device at the seller's place, months ago. With luck I found it and indeed, when I run that version of PrlTest, it DOES recognise my card.
Now I can continue installing. I hope this will be easier.. :)
Happy nonetheless!
