Post by: pyrre on June 28, 2014, 12:23:17 AM
However. i get a white only image.
i connected the scart to a 1084 which shows the dctv cd player screen just fine.
but my led tv wont...
it is a 5th gen samsung led smart lcd tv. no 3d option.

and i cant seem to find the settings for scart options in the menus....

anyone got a clue how to fix it?

Not sure, the only thing I can think of is that the sync of scart comes from the "composite" signal, and the 1084 takes the "composite sync" signal. But using the composite sync signal with scart would only result in distorted picture, not a white picture. I do know that the cdtv has a bit of a strange video output. Somehow I managed to power my cd32 with it when attached to a splitter.

Is it an old scart? If yes then you can burn your tv's scart circuit with that. New tech isn't tolerant enough to old machines output.
You need a modified scart cable with resistors. You can make one from a schematic or buy from ebay.

I'm almost 100% sure you don't have enough voltage on blanking pin 16.

Yes it is in Greek, it says to register, I though you could see the schem without.

You have PM.

you need to provide above 1  and below 3 Volts on pin 16, on TV SCART socket.
usually, people use simple voltage divider, with resistors. Amiga video socket has both +5 and +12 Volts, so you can choose, but be careful.
I'd first check the cable if it already has something on pin 16.

its used to automatically switch TV to RGB (component) instead of CVBS (composite).
older TVs didn't need it, as you could select RGB with remote.
perhaps you're lucky, and can select it with remote too, check TV manual.

here is a nice explanation of blanking signal:

oh, there is a possibility that your TV simply doesn't have RGB SCART, only CVBS.
if so you're SOL.

Ther are no settings for that in the setup menus. at least i cannot find it.
The tv has a separate component input. and do not know if the scart have component abilities...
but i will look into the scart cable.

is there a 24 pin amiga video to component option?

looking inside the connector, there are no connections to pin 8 or 16 in the scart end.
inside the db24 connector there are no connectivity to pin 22, not even a hole for the connector pin.

in other words, i need a new scart cable...

well you could modify that one, provided it has enough wires. or perhaps borrow one from audio if tv is not stereo. also sometimes it has multiple GND wires.

by component, you mean YPbPr? Amiga has only RGB component out, you'd need 'complex' adapter to connect it to YPbPr.

each lead has its separate ground wire. But the amiga video connector does not have trough hole for connector pins. the back plate is completely solid, apart from the pins already casted in the plastic.

stereo audio, out of the question.

But in total i can free 3 wires from other grounding signals...
but i would need a new 23 pin connector for amiga video port...

yes. it has YPbPr component inputs.
what kind of adapter is needed?

so, you are missing pins on 23DB connector? they are hard to find, people usually hack the 25pin.
3 wires is more than enough, you just need couple of right resistors, depending which voltage you choose. there are schematics on net.
forget YPbPr, it is not worth the hassle or money.

if you never soldered before or don't have a friend who does it, I'd just buy another cable, they should be cheap nowadays. ask seller for schematics or some guarantee.

Yes... no pins. and the plastic backplate is not even drilled for pins.

i do however have the 23 - 15 pin vga connector for my 1942 monitor..
if i could make something with that without making it useless on my a1200 or the 1942. i could use it.... cant i?
