Title: H.R. Giger (1940-2014) RIP
Post by: SysAdmin on May 15, 2014, 09:05:41 PM
News from wanderer via EAB.

Surrealist artist Hans Rudolf "Ruedi" Giger passed away at 74. Widely known for his disturbing work on the Alien film series and of special interest to us: we all remember the creepy and extremely tough Amiga game Dark Seed.

I've been mourning his passing for days.  Watching Alien in the cinema as a kid just blew me away (lucky for me our local cinema were never bothered how old you were and would let us kids in to watch anything) and I became an instant fan of his work.

I never managed to finish Dark Seed.

His Necronomicon collections were superb, this is sad.

He also gave the world the second-best Emerson, Lake & Palmer album cover.

Was always a big fan of Giger's artwork, starting from the fold out poster that came with Dead Kennedys "Frankenchrist" album, which was a reprint of one of his earlier works, the name I'll refrain from mentioning here, heh.

Dark Seed was a visually stunning game, but I recall buying it and playing it once then never touching it again due to the difficultly of it.

RIP
