Title: NetSurf 3.1 released
Post by: chris on April 27, 2014, 10:37:05 PM
NetSurf is a small, fast web browser for AmigaOS 4 and other platforms.

NetSurf 3.1 contains many improvements over the previous release. The highlights include much faster CSS selection performance, faster start up time, new look and feel to the treeviews (hotlist/bookmarks, global history and cookie manager), improved options handling, undo/redo support in textareas, and general improvement of forms. Also included are many other additions, optimisations and bug fixes. We recommend that all users upgrade.

A NetSurf 3.1 build for AmigaOS 4 (native frontend) has been uploaded to OS4Depot and Aminet.  Download (http://www.os4depot.net/share/network/browser/netsurf.lha)

Great ! That is fast after 3.1 was released on the 26th of April.

I hope a 68K version will arrive soon, and hope it performs better in WinUAE, where it halts when resizing the window.

Testing of 3.1 for 68k started 21th of April here: http://ami-soft.blogspot.com .
Please report if resizing issue still exists. Note that you can only adjust screen size here, it will be changed next time you run netsurf. To make it easy, click rmb on reload button and netsurf will open on the same website with new screen size. On winuae it takes only a moment.

I would have to port it again. I can use existing source code from Chris and from my port (which is partially based on Chris' work) but I am not sure is it worth of effort because OWB is so good.

It is telling that I didnt even know my port is not working anymore. I have not used it in years.

Awesome! Is this AGA-compatible only, or ECS-friendly too?

PZ.

It is based to Frambuffer version, wich is meant to be used for debuggin and NO Gui systems. Thats not all, it also SDL app, wich uses Novacoder's AGA SDL hack.

All proper version are downloadable here :

http://www.netsurf-browser.org/downloads/

As you can see there is even Atari version, wich is very useable ::

Netsurf load few seconds and opens google, pages like ebay takes 16-17 seconds to load so it seems to be very useable.

v3.1 for AmigaOS 4 is now up on that page.

To all intents and purposes it is the same as the earlier ones, but has been built by the same server that does the CI builds.  I had a newer version of curl in my build environment so there may be some minor differences there.

AmiUpdate will probably pick it up as a new update as the date has changed.
