Title: AmigaOne XE/G4 and AOS 4.1 install
Post by: LaPTuNa on April 23, 2014, 04:02:35 PM
Hey guys,

I had something come into the shop that I thought I would never see in real life. A guy brought in an Eyetech board and wants me to assemble and setup AOS. I have it assembled and posting, the boot order set for cdrom/hd, but when it gets to the AOS splash while booting from the cd it goes to the boing splash screen with the animated floppy. Any thoughts?

Something is messing up the drive detection. There is UBoot detection and there is OS4 detection. Easiest may be to simply reset the NVRAM ro default from UBoot menu and set boot order again.

It's hard to know what the machien has been through, what changes have been made and what controller it was booting off.

It tends to be some OS4 NVRAM variable that sets a unit to one drive type where another sits. CD/DVD such as. If OS4 find the type is wrong it just rejects the drive leaving you clueless. :-)

You need to download 6 first updates from Hyperion website and after that run amiupdate from system folder, to get OS up to date.

Glad it''s working. :-)

And also, it's a bit hard to install updates first, when you haven't installed it off the CD yet. :-D
