The last couple of days Ebay has been sucking wind, now they appear to be completely down. I cannot even load ebay.com(us). I can load ebay.uk and ebay.au, but if I try to log in or do a US search it dies.
Anyone hear anything? It under attack? :-(
-
I just tried it and ebay.com and the search worked ok for me im in the uk. :-)
-
Change the location of the item to US. You have to go into Advanced search to do this.
Or just click my auctions link.
-
I dunno what you're huffing- but I got in just fine and did a few searches with no problems at all....

Read what I wrote, eBay US, not UK.

works for me. Just checked my account and read my new feedback.

Then it's Bellsouth. I can reach everywhere but eBay. I can't even get a ping response from eBay.
-
I did read what you wrote, by default I use ebay US
-
Hey Argo, try this for me. Manually type in ebay.com into your browser address bar and hit enter. Then hit reload. Tell me if it works.
I cannot get to it an all and I cannot ping ebay.com, but I just found I can connect if I use the IP obtained with dig. I cannot only get to the main page though, any links after that timeout.
-
Seems to be working fine for US searches from my comcast connection.
eBay uses some strange load-balancing and caching, though. What works here, may not work elsewhere.
Most likely a more local-to-you caching server got corrupted, or maybe BellSouth's routing tables got hosed.

Ive done that you have 3 items for sale and i have no problems viewing your items.
-
No problem. Typed in www.ebay.com and page loaded in 3 seconds. Reloaded a few times and page loaded in up to 7 seconds. Even tried ebay.com, same results.
Sounds like a DNS issue. Can you ping with the IP address?

Sounds like BellSouth's DNS is hosed. Maybe try using an open DNS server, in the meantime?

I als tried to click on the link of Ebay.com and it also loaded fast (4 secs actually) ... no problem and that from Belgium ...

hmm no, weird. I can load the IP in a browser and get to the homepage, but I can't ping it.
Here is my error in the browser.
An error occured while loading http://pages.ebay.com/search/items/basicsearch.html?ssPageName=h:h:fitem:US:
Connection to host pages.ebay.com is broken

I'm not really sure you can ping eBay on a good day. Don't they block ICMP?
-
I can't ping eBay either. They may block that kinda stuff. Try pages.ebay.com
-
It's something in my router. I was trying to use a Compaq router, but now I have the Linksys hooked back up temporarily. What setting would be causing the problem I described?
-
Cant think of what would cause a problem in your router unless its set to block an IP range ebay is using.
-
Sounds like a TTL problem to me. I had that happen to my website, and it was more than a week before the URL was working again in the Boston area.
It happens from time to time, but usually only when a webserver changes its IP address.
