Title: Floppy disk images in shapeshifter
Post by: AndyFC on April 04, 2014, 07:53:37 PM
I've got a couple of disk archives, Prince of Persia and Wolfenstein, to use in Shapeshifter. I can display the archive and see two .dsk files in the wolfenstein archive but they just try and open in a text viewer. It looks like I should be able to mount the images as disk but can't. Is this a limitation of Shapeshifter or do I need to do something in mac os?

I've looked online about mounting disk images in os 761 and not had any joy with renaming the files to .img or using diskdup.

Any help is welcome. Thanks.

One problem with MAC files is that the file is split into 2 parts: DATA and Resource Fork. I think R.F. is like a INFO file, which keeps important info about the file. When you copy the file from PC to MAC, the R.F. part will be lost and the MAC will not know what to do with that file.
the best bet is to compress the file on the MAC with Stuffit and then copy to Shapeshifter.

And also you need "DISK COPY" program to mount the images.

I learned that the hard way.

Hi. Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay - I've only been back on my Amiga today - first time since I last posted.

I use stuffit to extract the archives within ShapeShifter.

Today I tried disk copy (6.3.3) and that mounts the images without a problem. I've now manged to install & test Wolfenstein!
