Title: x-bench
Post by: Lurch on March 26, 2014, 07:54:15 PM
Anyone been able to get x-bench to work with an Apollo 060 or any 060?

I get the well known dreaded software error with #800000020 :-(

Hi Lurch.

If you have downloaded the 0.94F release which was released to Aminet the 2014/03/21 please download the 0.94F_R2 uploaded on aminet the 2014/03/22 which is fixing a mistake that i've made in the 0.94F (I was trying to make an access to a file that no more exist) :furious:

Regards.

Jim

0.94F_R2 - So I downloaded this one from Aminet instead of a 20 at the end I get #800000004.

Will keep trying, is there any patches it doesn't like?

So I can get partial success running it from a no startup-sequence boot.

First I run the following:

Assign >NIL: xb: Work:Xbench
Assign >NIL: xbtemp: work:xbench/temp

Then change into the xbench folder and run xinit.exe which brings up the registration screen which counts down and then I get a dark blue screen for a minute and then the Amiga reboots.

Still get the software error when running it straight from WB.

Hi Lurch.

You have a really strange problem.

Have you used the xbench installer ? If yes you can try to install xbench on the "ram:" just as a test.

If this is not working, simply install xbench where you want and start it with the "D" key pushed (The "d" key must stay pushed until you see something on the screen). This will start xb with the debugmode and create a logfile in the main dir of xbench. Send me this log by mail and i'll check that (jimneray(a)gmail.com). ;)

Will give it a go :-)

The Voodoo card is causing it to crash, wont switch to AGA.
A shame as I was looking for another option as WHDLoad doesn't work too well with Voodoo/RTG. All games work with Voodooint=No but the Amiga runs like a dog.

Will have to workout away to have a boot option to switch between RTG/AGA before WB loads.

Back to the drawing board, was hoping x-bench would load before WB. But it looks like it needs WB in the background.

Ok so now we know why. Thanx. :)

Xbench doesn't need the workbench to be loaded in background but AmigaOs is indeed needed.

When I execute xbench from the startup-sequence the grey screen of workbench appears (the one before the icons are displayed) first then xbench.

Of course that screen just before xbench loads is in whatever display mode I have workbench set to. So if I'm using RTG it will display in RTG.

So I have to set workbench to AGA for xbench to work.
