I do remember when this issue was anathema.

"Don't bother trying to manipulate priorities by pointing out some unrelated OS has this or that feature. It won't work."

Haha and now they did port the thing from MorphOS sources :D The irony at its best :P

Yeah... :)

But strictly speaking, the OS4-Filesysbox is based on version 0.730 that was open sourced under the APL license in 2011. The Filesysbox that has been part of MorphOS since 2012 or so, is *not* open sourced. ;)

But like the OS4-MUI also suggests (which is *not* based on the real MorphOS MUI4.2 sources BTW; some third party OS4 SW developers got a hold of the sources to an early alfa of MUI 4 and set out to fill in the gaps themselves), there surely seems to be a strong desire to walk in MorphOS's footsteps, feature wise, doesn't it? This is what makes ssolie's comment in your quote above so funny, as well as his and other "OS4 peoples" comments elsewhere throughout history about MorphOS features, like MUI! On the one hand they think those features are irrelevant, unwanted or even bad things that they publicly discredit when it's on MorphOS, on the *other* hand they praise it when it's on OS4 (as third party contributions of course, since Hyperion hasn't paid their developers what they owe, resulting in not so much real development of Hyperion owned OS4 IP gets done in-house anymore). This is a common phenomenon in totalitarian regimes whose existence is perceived threatened by other/better ways; in his dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984), George Orwell coined the word "doublethink" for this phenomenon:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doublethink

:)

Anyway, question is, if what they want is MorphOS's features, why aren't they simply using the real thing instead? :p ;)

If that man spent half the time he spends on locking threads to do some actual development instead, then maybe some work may actually be done?

:p

I imagine he's still very busy rewriting the entire C language to be more OS4 optimized or whatever it was. ;)

"Unrelated". That one cracks me up! :)

MorphOS features, like MUI!

Since when MUI is a "MorphOS feature"? Or CyberGrafX? AHI, anyone? Or - even better - like Intuition, Graphics et al.? Come on, you know better...

Pretty much since MorphOS's first day. Well, perhaps not *the first* day, but at least since v 1.0 or earlier...

:)

So Hyperion hasn't paid third party developers still? Wow. They learned a lot from AI.....

:)

Sure, because it used MUI from AmigaOS. Which doesn't make it a "MorphOS" feature.....

MorphOS 4 is MOS features, since it ISNT avail otherwise (could be if they licensed it)

On my old post -> It is a FEATURE REQUEST section of support fora, and it gets locked and I acused of some sort of manipulation of wishing someone for good of all - finally shared partition between Linux  and OS4 and if inserted into OS directly possibility to have acessable partition visible for repair and backup outside Amiga!

Shame is that today I am in some sort of APPROVAL mode with no PM option, but they NEVER approve any posts. Nice way of censorship.

They just want worship, sadly.
Even some of their daily bread comes from I pocket.

I take it you're blissfully unaware that the creators of MUI and CyberGrafX, (Stefan Stuntz and Frank Mariak) are core developers of MorphOS?

That was a rhetorical question btw.

There is allways has been MUI for Amiga OS. MUI4 version of Amiga OS is not based to MOS sources, so what? I could imagine what would happend if it were based to MOS sources. Situation reminds me bullying school kids, do or not do, a**holes are allways popping up from masses.

Since I do use OS4 I have to say I am happy I also have MUI4.

But then again, somehow I suppose there was a smarter way to do it (e.g. making some agreement with MUI author? OS 3.5, OS 3.9 and OS 4 didnt provide a MUI key?)

I don't know if they've licenced the name MUI4 for that OS4 version.. but anyway it sounds a little fishy when they use that name while it's not based on the real thing. Call it something else then..

Anyway I don't have anything against porting software around and sharing code, but it's sometimes so hilarious with these attitudes where you can't admit that there might be something to get from competitors... or even admit that there is "related competitor" ;) This Filesysbox case is just a prime example where talk and actions are so contradictory.

Unrelated OS? Thats funny.

Whats even funnier is hyperion still has not paid their developers?

That could explain their snails pace progress. Looks like they burn out
some suckers then move on to the new suckers until they realize they
are never getting paid too... Sad.

Yesterday I copied TORCS from USB stick to my Amiga and Speed Dreams from external NTFS formatted HD, even when speed dreams archive was a bigger, copying it was done faster.
