I have a 3000T I am trying to ressurect, powersupply won't come on key lock switch is broken, I really need an Operators manual, I am stuck

Wow, ton of stuff online, seems to mostly be for the A3000, not the T, however. :(
I'm assuming you've tried all these already:

Last, try getting in touch with this guy, he seems to have *all* the Amiga's, LOL. http://www.commodore-amiga-retro.com/amiga/amiga_scuzz69.htm

Wait a second, here you go. Leave it to the Germans over at A1K to have a record of everything. ;)

Thanks for all the links, still looking for just the manual that came with the computer right out of the box, seems like I can find the service manual all over the place, in fact I have the original service manual.

Jameco.com sells the key switch and you can Google a new PSU. You may be able to find a copy of the original users manual online, but it won't help get it running.

Not trying to be snarky, but how 'bout giving the guy a link to order or a part #, or some actual useful information? I've seen this comment before and obviously the guy is still struggling to find one. If I knew it I'd tell what it is! :whack:

the 3000t had a spring loaded reset built into the keyswitch. i.e. like start on a typical car that springs back.
although replacmeent switches without this will work,it will not have reset on the key(no big deal).

if it helps the keyswitch won't make any difference on the 3000t working, all it did was lock the kbd/mouse and had reset. you can power the machine and use it w/o them. sounds like the typical bad psu. trouble shooting for all amigas is pretty much the same, start with the psu and work your way through.

Not trying to be snarky, but if you type "keyswitch" into the Jameco.com Product Search box, it gives you a list of all the "keyswitches" they list for sale.
I know that is difficult for many people, so:

Not trying to be snarky, but (snip)
That's great dude. That's really great. How about giving him a part number for the one he needs? After seeing many posts like this from you, are you just being deliberately obtuse, or are you this unhelpful in real life, also?
I'm done here.

Dude, you were done a long time ago...

I ordered the most likely key switch from jameco, it wasn't even close. I tried another vendor, it looked good on the picture, but still wasn't close. I've searched and searche and to no avail have not found any replacement key switches. The Power Supply unit seems to be culperit, but once again, hit many dead ends in trying to find any replacements, schematics, or substitues. I am about ready to throw it in the the garage and forget about it. If I could find a good substitue power supply that would be good as well.
-
So let me get this straight
The switch was wired with two pairs of wires. What did the switch do?
No key in - Was it just locked off, or was the key board and mouse locked
did it need the key to power up?
So Key in had a "C" by the notch,
Then a "0" which I presume was the on position
Then a "R" which was a quick reset but for the computer.
So what you are saying is that the key whether wired up or not should not stop the unit from starting up. If that is the case then it must be the power supply that is bad.

I assume the Key-switch had an Open-Closed connection (Closed locks out the keyboard and mouse) and a Reset connection built in (closed causes a hardware reset). I've not run across such a combination; good luck on finding that one... But no, they have no bearing on the PSU; rather than find an exact replacement have you thought about: 1) having that one repaired (it is old school tech and a TV repair place should be able to fix it), 2) replacing the insides with a new, and smaller PSU, or 3) finding a similar "box" and grafting the wiring harness?

Amiga 3000T Power Supply Connector
This is a description of the power supply connector ON THE MOTHERBOARD of the Amiga 3000T
series.

2 -12V 14 +12V
3 -5V 15 +12V
4 GND 16 +5V USER
5 GND 17 GND
6 GND 18 GND

8 GND 20 GND
9 +5V 21 +5V

11 +5V 23 +5V
12 +5V 24 +5V
Taken from the Amiga 3000T Schematics in the back of every Amiga 3000T manual.
These voltages are found on standard AT power supplies. Tick is not found on modern PSU’s and a motherboard jumper (J300 on an A2000) sets it to internal

This would be nice if it were for the 3000T, unfortunately the 3000 desktop PSU has a different connector.
I ended up wiring up an AT PSU (fit nicely inside the original 3000T PSU's case) using the pinout in the previous post and it worked fine.
edit: I could be mistaken (it's been a couple of years,) but I believe the actual connector on the 3000T board is the same used for 24-pin ATX power supplies. I seem to recall buying a brand new harness to use instead of cutting the old one off of the original PSU.

If you can find a European supply, it can be converted to US voltages:

If you're confident working on electronics and mains voltages, these power supplies are easy enough to repair. These switchmode supplies all operate on the same principle of rectifying the mains to a DC voltage then pulse width modulation switching it through a high frequency transformer. Often different makes/models have common issues of input bridge rectifier and/or switching transistor failure, which usually fail to a short circuit state. Equivalent parts are usually cheap and easy to source. I've written various notes on generic power supply repair on this page (http://amiga.serveftp.net/A3000_HardwareGuide/booting-problems.html) under 'A3000 power supply common faults'.
Those notes are written around 230VAC supplies. For 110VAC, reservior capacitor DC voltages should be around (110V/sin(45))-1.2 = 154V.
When you say the supply is dead, I gather the fan is not running and there's no 5V output to the main board?
As for the keyswitch, it won't prevent booting if it's in the locked state. It only disables keyboard input and mouse movement (not mouse buttons). If unsure, disconnect the keyswitch connector at the main board which leaves the machine in an 'unlocked' state.

After more than a year, I am able to solve the problem about the Keylock :)
This keylock is a piece of "poop" ! It can open itself at any time and PINs may fall into the Amiga. Replace it asap if you can. Otherwise, in the meantime, if you want to enjoy your AMIGA while the keylock is broken, here are the details below.
