Just watched Secrets of the living dolls (channel 4) and to my amazement I noticed a Amiga 4000 with Commodore monitor in the office of the doll making factory. (For those who missed it is around the 12 minute mark.)
So it has got me wondering .. have anyone spotted a Amiga in a recent TV show (apart from this)? Secondly, what were the doll factory using the Amiga 4000 for?

Probably it's running some piece of process-control hardware/software that they don't want to replace because it's working. There's lots of that in industrial settings; a nuclear plant in Ontario was in the news this past fall for building its long-term plans around PDP-11s for the same reason. As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I was doubting it and thought it might be a similar PC, but no - there is an Amiga 4000, with CRT and keyboard. Possible another CRT in the left corner too, suggesting another machine there.
It doesn't appear to be involved in process control as it is in an office environment. I wonder what software it's used for?

I have an A4000T under my desk at work but it's not used for any work purpose. If this is a family run business it might just be there and also doesn't serve any real business related purpose.

From the pic they don't look like hoarders, so doubtful it's just sitting there not serving some purpose, then again what's up with the stains all over that lady's shirt? Shoot, contact them and ask if they'd like to sell it! ;)

I recall seeing Mel Gibson messing with his partners Amiga 500 in the 3rd Lethal Weapon. I also remember an Amiga 2000 in the dorm room scene in a move called Toy Soldiers with Sean Astin. It is mostly from a side view but unmistakable. It seems I saw movie or a documentary with an A1500 in some English production sitting in a lab. Which would make sense since A1500's were sold over in the UK specifically.

The 4000 could be for still picture enhancements. I'm aware of Amigas used in makeup / hairdressing and even plastic surgery for before and after previews of an individuals image.
As to Amigas in recent media, sadly no.

Well watched the documentary and it's a family run business. So yeah it's not beyond the realms of possibility that someone in the family happens to be an Amiga enthusiast and it's just there, and for all we know the office in question might be located at home.
