Title: Amiga mail and Microsoft Exchange
Post by: leofoe on January 13, 2014, 12:30:45 PM
Is there any change of connecting an Amiga mail program with Microsoft Exchange?

Never seen anything that does Exchange natively, but if your server is configured for pop then pretty much anything should work

Microsoft Exchange shipped in April 1996, Commodore went bankrupt in 1994.  It's highly unlikely that an Exchange app ever existed for the Amiga.

You will be stuck with POP3 or IMAP but that needs to be enabled on the Exchange server side of things. You will not be able to use the calendar invites/contacts features as such.

Exchange does come with a web front end for accessing your mail/calendar/contacts etc, think GMail and you could always leveraging that. Again, that's if it is enabled on the Excahnge server.

Should do. You can use IMAP, or OWA through the browser. If your browser supports it. The 2013 OWA client only has minor differences to the Outlook 2013 client look and feel.

While the dates are correct, Amiga development didn't stop in 1994, Yam, Simplemail etc. have all come out in the late 90s/00s.

I don't think any Amiga browsers would support OWA.  I just use Gmail with IMAP on YAM on my 3.9 A1200, works great with that.

Also, MS was using MAPI for their clients to talk to their servers before they had Exchange.   (MS PC Mail, MS Mail - 1991-ish).

That being said, MS always kept the MAPI protocols pretty close to their company...

If YAM supports IMAP it will work with Exchange and Office 365.

(IMAP not to be confused with the old MS Mail client API. MAPI.)

Thanks guys for the replies.
I tried the OWA way with IBrowse and AWeb.
With IBrowse I could get to the loginpage, but not further. There was some security message from Exchange.
With AWeb I could get to INbox, but I could not open any message or other link.

I couldn't get POP to work with the Amiga.

I will have a look at IMAP.
