I don't have an A1200 but I successfully use the LinkSYS USB200M adapter on my A4000, connected on my Deneb running Poseidon. The supplied SANA-2 drivers for MiamiDX worked right away and it gave me no problems connecting to all the 100MBit networks I tried.
The specific model is discontinued (replaced with a newer one) but you can still find some around: http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-USB200M-EtherFast-Network-Adapter/dp/B000085ZKV/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1388851713&sr=8-4&keywords=linksys+usb+to+ethernet+usb200M

Midwan is right. I have the same adapter and it works just fine on my A600 as well.
It worked through Poseidon via usbasixeth.device in Miami just fine.

Did you try cards on the compatibility list? not just any old cards will work.
Orinoco gold is a good one if wpa isnt a worry, you must install prism2 drivers and point miami to them in the hardware profile. If you didn't do this there wont be any evidence of a card plugged in whatsoever. its pretty much invisible until you set it all up right.
you might look into the pcmcia socket and be sure there isnt a bent/broken pin in it.

tried everything ..got the card cause i was told it would work ..etherlink111 ..but none of the cnet etc drivers work ..3c589 doesnt either ..then i noticed the card has 3c589c on it ..wondered if the pcmcia could be conflicting with something ..never could get any pcmcia card working with it...though i installed cardreset etc in startup an the card light goes off then on when i reboot..miami can never find it though i direct it to the driver devs..network etc ..just considering options just wanna card that will work an the instructions on how to network to a pc ..if i need a router ..my intention was to network to my laptop to use the usb/mobile broadband ..ill get it online one day..when i had dial up took me an hour to setup an go online ..id get a dial up account again ..but noone does that now..
