Title: Dell 2320L monitor help needed
Post by: Chartus on December 31, 2013, 12:25:54 AM
I read that the Dell 2320L was supposed to sync down to Amiga timings but it doesn't work.

Does anyone run this monitor on their Amiga and if so what did you do to make it work.

I'm trying to get my 500 up to speed but am having problems

"Horizontal scan range 30 kHz to 83 kHz"

Which Amiga and hardware add-ons?  For classics, this scan range will not work for the 500 or 2000 that run at very low 15.7kHz unless they have a scan doubler or video card added. It should work fine with a stock 3000's vga output and a 4000 with a vga adapter and the proper video mode selected.

Appears to be a really specific model that works with Amiga's. Is yours SR or ST? See this thread:

IMHO I would recommend an Indivision for use with any modern LCD monitor on an Amiga.

My ST2320 works great on my A1200 (NTSC and PAL). What are using for a 23 pin video adapter?

Got a ST2220L and SR2320L myself and both are working great ! Oh and that's with one of the silver commodore rgb to vga adapters, A500, 1000, cd32, 4000.

Sorry I have been away. Had the Flu but starting to feel better now.  I don't know the exact model but I know it's a 2320L.  I wired up a 23 to vga converter with the 74hct08 chip and cap but it didn't work.  Does it work on an A500.  I Was sick when I made the adapter so maybe I got it wrong.

Had an ESC scandoubler but screwed it up trying to install in the 500.(blackscreen).  Put it back in the A600 but still no joy.

I am using one of the silver/chrome Commodore rgb to vga adapters and yes, tested on just about every model of Amiga :)

I got 2320L and works fine in almost all Amiga modes.
BTW. I'm using "Sync Strainer" 23-15 pin adapter.

I have one here, definitely works.

Check my post:

Has some pics showing it in operation, plus info on working modes etc.

I just used a 74LS08 in my adapter, though the HCT should work as well.

Cheers,

It turns out that it was working all along.  I had to turn on the monitor first and let it go sleep, standby, whatever it was doing.  The turn on the Amiga and the insert workbench screen came up nice as can be.  If you try to turn it on all at once you get an out of frequency message on the screen.

Big Thanks to all that helped.
