Hi!
Thinking of buying a sam460ex (https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicuro.it/shop/en/sam-motherboards/10-sam460ex.html) board after x-mas.
If anyone knows; am I correct in that it would fit in this case?:

The SAM460 is a Flex-ATX format board, It won't fit in this case that is made for made for Mini-ITX.
Interesting info about formats here:

-
Hm, wops, I just assumed it was mini-itx. Sorry about that.
I have been searching on Google, but it seems the selection is very limited for flex but I will keep looking.
Thanks!

*Shameless plug*
You could get one of my cases... :D
-
My SAM460 is in this case:

Sleek, stylish and does the job :)
-
TheDaddy;haha, thanks ;D
Delta; Yup, it looks nice and I have found a couple that seem okay, but they are all missing SD-card reader in the front.
But then I found this:
http://www.cmstore.eu/cases/elite/elite-100/elite-100-refurbished/
( http://www.coolermaster-usa.com/product.php?product_id=2935 )
And this:

Will it work you think?

Any micro ATX case should work fine.
-
@Looren: You can simply buy a multi card reader that fits into a floppy bay.
like this:

@Iggy: You private mailbox is full, tried to reply to you that its ok to wait a couple more days :)
-
Iggy; Are you sure about that?
Looking at the link from Delta, and Flex is in between sizes of micro and mini.
Delta; Ah, never thought of floppy bay readers. I will keep that in mind.
I am checking the spec for your case model btw, is it correct that it does not have any 2.5” internal slots?
-
@Looren
True but the way the floppy bay is made you could fit a 2.5" drive there even if you install a card reader in the bay. Maybe a 3.5" to 2.5" adapter bracket could do the job as well(?)
And make sure to get a Low Profile video card if you buy this case. I got all my stuff directly from Acube except for the hard disk and DVD-R.

Thanks, I'm also getting jerked around by Fed Ex right now.
They know one magic trick, "watch this disappear...".

Some sort of bracket would do the job yes.
Regarding the low profile card, I noticed that they have fans on the ones they sell on acubes website and I would prefer something that is completely noiseless. I have seen some passive, low profile graphic cards, but not sure if they will work or not. Gotten the impression that only a few graphic cards work properly on OS4, but may be I am wrong?
For example:
http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=1865527
and
http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=502262
Are you by the way using any of the SATA controller cards from acube (or anyone else for that matter)? Wondering if these are low profile? And if it is possible to set up RAID on them? (probably not)
-
I'm using the SiI3114 4 ports from Acube web store, it came with a low profile clip.
As for video cards I can't confirm if the HD6450 will work, better e-mail Acube about it, they usually reply quickly enough. Until there is real 3D support and some games worth playing I don't care much about these cards.

Uh Oh, my bad...
MINI ATX.
Is there a micro?
I thought we went to itx after Mini.

Considering they are still pushing HD4650s, its questionable.
Hey, were do you even get a 4650 these days?

Acube store, they seems to have plenty
-
Delta; Okay, and there is no RAID on the SiI3114 controller? (if support for it even exists)
Any clue if the integrated graphic would be enough for running q1/q3? Probably not q3 i guess
Iggy;
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/compact,606-2.html
Micro 244 x 244 mm
Flex 229 x 191 mm
Mini 170 x 170 mm
-
Acube seems to no longer have any motherboard s for sale; won't that be a problem?
-
danbeaver; I know, will have to wait until they have them in stock again. Just hope their manufacturing time is not to long.
-
@looren
the onboard SM502 video does not have 3D acceleration. like other PCI-only AOS4 machines, 3D graphics are only available with radeon R100 and R200 cards, as well as voodoo cards. the radeon HD cards are still 2D-only at this point. so if that's an issue for you, you might consider using a radeon 9250 in the SAM's PCI slot for now.

Any Micro ATX case will work. I myself have been searching for some time to find a case that looks nice for a AmigaOS 4.x machine, I found a flex-atx case on ebay I would love but they only ship within the states :(
So im still trying to find a micro-atx case I like.
Here is the Flex-ATX case I liked:
(ps I would gladly pay someone in the states to buy/ship it to me with payment in advance some day) :)
-
eliyahu; hm, okay
I will give it some thought, perhaps I should wait with getting gfx card
som99; I saw that case a couple of times when I was searching Google for cases.
If I find it again I will drop you a line with the link.
-
Just thought I would update the thread a bit :)
http://silverstonetek.com/product.php?area=en&pid=84
Found this, very nice, slimmed case from Silverstone
I wrote to Silverstone and asked them directly if the Sam board would fit, and according to them it will. Only center screw will not line up with the board.
Not sure how only one expansion slot will affect me in the future, but will cross that bridge when i get there :) Perhaps it is possible to use something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI-e-PCI-Express-to-SATA-Adapter-Converter-Card-Mini-/170656767275 internally as well as using a regular pcie/pci card.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I am using http://www.myus.com for stuff like that, try it, they are good and not expensive.. get a free account, and then you get a forwarding US address you provide to the US seller when ordering at stores that don't ship outside US.. hope that helps.
