Title: A600 and Genlock- crashing regularly....
Post by: RedWarrior on February 10, 2004, 12:05:26 AM
Hey guys,
Got my A600 running pretty well, and have been using it a little bit with an Alter-Image Genlock... works fine, though the A600 tends to crash after about 30 minutes of operation... Just had DpaintIV running, with just some text on the screen.... the machine resets itself...

Aldo happens if there are no programs running.

could there be something wrong with the Genlock and am I hurting my A600 by using it?

Thanks,
RW

(Bonus Question: How the hell am I supposed to run Scala Multimedia when the dongle won't physically fit into the mouse-port in the a600?? the case gets in the way!)

You might want to try unhooking the Genlock for a while to see if that makes any difference.

yeah it works fine without the Genlock.... mostly.

Still the odd crash here and there, but usually there is a reason for it.

with the Genlock in, it will reboot at random.... which is a real pain.

Perhaps your PSU is bad and the Genlock pulls too much current?

Re: Scala, make a short joystick port extension cable.

Jope makes a good point, as I'm not familiar with that particular genlock, I'm not sure if it has or hasn't got its own external power source. If it does, I'd say that somethings not right with the genlock itself and you might be better off trying to replace it. All kinds of genlocks appear in ebay now and then, keep us up to date.

yeah i agree, sounds like the PSU is not supplying enough power to the amiga and causing to reboot. What amiga PSU are you running?
