Title: Industrial Noiz with Aegis Sonix on Amiga 500
Post by: XDelusion on November 27, 2013, 04:42:30 AM
Not my own video, but for worth checking out if you are a synth head. Gets REALLY interesting after about the first minute. Otherwise it starts off very old school and what you would expect.

EDIT

This video is also very noteworthy!

Wow, I can't believe I've never heard of Aegis Sonix! I've only ever used Aegis Animator in the past

Yeah, I too was surprised to NOT hear of Aegis Sonix until sometime AFTER 2006!!!

I could have used this in the 1980s. It sounds great!

Aegis Sonix was one of the first (if not the first) applications I used in Amiga.

Sadly I think Aegis would have been more successful if the Amiga had been taken more seriously and marketed as something much more useful than just a games platform.  Aegis had a variety of products that were VERY good, to include Aegis Draw, one of the first CAD programs for the Amiga.  I think the Amiga was also a victim of its own success...perfect for gaming but most business people at the time didn't recognize that the power and flexibility of a gaming system also made productivity suites, music/midi, and other non-gaming uses child's play for the Amiga.  I can remember showing my Amigas to colleagues at work and their only response was, "But can it run Lotus 123 or Word Star?"  Those idiots couldn't see past their own noses.

I spent a lot of time messing around with the waveform generator/modulator back in the day. It was fascinating to keep tweaking things to see what your changes did. I guess before Sonix I'd never know about or messed with something this synth like. I have to admit I didn't really get it at the time.

As cool as it was, in the end I never found any use for Sonix as a tool for the music I wanted to create (rock/blues/metal), so it was back to Deluxe Music. If I was into electronica/synth type music Sonix would have been pretty handy.
