I have an A600 that simply won't work with Melcard Mitsubishi 4MB (MF34M1-LYCAT01). A600 works great with another 2MB card, it also works with CF card reader. I tried 4MB card on an A1200, and I was able to use it as Fast RAM. After I configured it on A1200, I tried it on A600, but it wasn't recognised as RAM (or anything).
A600 has KS 37.300 and WB 2.1. PerpCard detects the card, but it's "Unknown". Sometimes it is recognised as ~1500 bytes SRAM card, but after reboot, it doesn't show up. I also tried various advanced settings in Perpcard, but I was unable to do anything with it.
Am I missing something obvious?

IIRC, some cards work and some don't in the A600. I have a 4 MB working in mine, so, it is possible to use a 4 MB PCMCIA as Fast Ram.

hmm that sucks. Not all pcmcia cards are up to the same spec. For whatever reason your a600 doesnt like it. I use a Newmedia 4mb sram card on my a600

The funny thing is that this same card model was used by people with A600, for example:

Would maybe newer KS help?

I doubt it. I'll bet its a timing issue, a near miss.

Not all pcmcia cards are the same spec or adhere strictly to the pcmcia 1 standards. Kickstart shouldnt have anything to do with it.

Try to change the SRAM as disk on the Amiga 1200 and change it back to RAM op your amiga 600.
If this isn't working, change the battery.
-
amiga 1260 change the battery? Huh? what has that got to do with anything?
-
Melcard has a battery in it to save data on it. it also needs it to configure as fastmem. I had this issue between two A1200's, when the battery was empty.
