Ok here's a weird one for you:
On Saturday I used an A500 (1.3 with Action Replay III and 1 Meg of ram) with an RGB to Scart lead. I played Monkey Island 2 for somewhere between 8 and 12 hours. I ahved my games and shut down the A500.
On Sunday, I turned the A500 and TV on but the image is flickering and distorted in as similar way to what you would see if you plugged the A500 in to a VGA monitor, no verticle hold. You can make out the image and see what it's ment to be, nothing actually readable.
Ok, any ideas?

Sounds like what we get here if you try a PAL game on an NTSC TV screen. Is it the same game you played before or a new one?

PAL Game, PAL A500 and PAL TV.. as I said it worked fine on saturday, but not on Sunday. THe Kickstart sceen is also affected by the distortion.
I plugged my Action replayIII in and used it to force the screen to NTSC (Just in case). The distortion changed but did not corerct the problem.
I really don't know what's wrong. I'm going to try with my A1200, as this could be a problem with the Lead or the TV... I have the A520 TV modulator but no leads so I can't use it :-(

Isnt this caused by bad shield on the scart cable? I seemed to remember that once i had a playstaton running on scart that was not holding on vertical lock... was the cable at fault there (bad shield)

I'll find out when I try it with the A1200 :-(

I tested my A1200, exactly the same problem. I opened up the cable and found that one of the wires had snapped at the scart end of the cable.
No problem for me since I have a soldering Iron. One "repair" later and I am now in the market for a new cable.
Anyone know where I can find one. Help I can't use my Amiga's with out ine!!! :-(

@bloodline:
Maybe not next door to you, but GGS-Data (http://www.ggsdata.se) in Sweden sells Amiga RGB Scart leads for about 10 UKP and I dont think shipping to the UK would cost that much.

I rather think the telly is not functioning properly.
I have the same difficulties too. The A500 works perfectly with the scart cable connected to my Atari SC1425, while not functioning properly with my tv (black screen). When I turn off my tv, I see a flash of what it should display. I think this telly has ruined my Sega megadrive too, so be careful.
