Title: Indivision MKII. 800x600 mode
Post by: Retrofan on October 30, 2013, 09:49:21 PM
Hi:

I've got a working Full Screen 800x600 using HighGFX and full screen for games (at least here on my 32" FullHD LG Tv).

Here it is attached, and I will explain it clear for everybody: Copy first the  HighGFX (http://aminet.net/package/driver/moni/HighGFX40_6) files (not complete drawers) to your SYS: Devs/Monitors, reboot, open the Indivision config program on Prefs, make a right click on it's top bar, "Open Config" and search mine. Then press at the bottom right, on "Apply". On Screenmode prefs (on your System:Prefs) select HighGFX SuperHighResLaced, untick the default values (1024x768) and enter 800x600. Then you can edit OverScan on Prefs for HighGFX, and although you won't see the full screen, you can move the left side border to the left as it needs so.

Improvements -POSTING CONFIG !- of an 800x600 mode like SuperPlus are very welcome.

Any ideas if this one will work on the MK 1?  I have some HighGFX modes, but they seem rather.. well I don't know if the word is sluggish, but definitely not speedy.

I woudn't try it, but don't have any idea M8.

I would like to hear from someone trying it (MKII) and telling what do they think.

I will give it a try once I make it to my a1200... Was after a 800x600 mode the other day and learned it wasnt implemented yet on the MKII.  I have the MKIIcr but pretty much the same thing.

Does SuperPlus not work on the Indivision AGA?  I've used it on both my A500 and A2000 to get a rock-solid 800x600x16 color display.  It's a little slow on my hardware, but not unusuable.

no luck on my side of things. Anything passed 640x480 and artifacts start to show. Even have a fan fitted over the indivision but didnt make any difference. Might just be a board issue etc.....

Yes it was working with the first core (MKII we are talking)... But not full screen, and the screens for games were off centered (to the right) and also of course not full screen: so very very ugly. Ratte says there is a way to get it to work, but I can't.

Was it working without artifacts before my config? If so, what modes can you use without problems? HighGFX? Pal HighRes laced?. BTW it's Pal what I'm using here -I should have said- appart of HighGFX, you are surely using NTSC -so you should also add the Pal monitors to devs/monitors-. I should try to add full screen also for it, but remember that I'm not creating anything, I'm just trying configs the same that you can.

It was artifacting even before your configuration.  Using the HighGFX mode by itself did fill up my whole monitor, but eventually slowly started to show more and more screen errors.

For what I've seen there can be different "screen errors" with the indi. There can be flickering pixels/lines with high resolution modes like 1024x728 or 1280x1024 that will go worse and worse with time, that I fixed with this: http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/flickerfix -the Indi instructions say to try with a cooler on Alice first-, but also other kind with whatever resolution. These last were (here) fixed just taking out the indi, cleaning the pins of Lisa with an eraser and alcohol and refitting it. So you can try with both.

Edit: Some wonderful mate has told me he will try to run the SuperPlus config with the MKII and report. My best wishes to him. Edit: No, it seems he can not either, I think it will only work using VGA. I've got ordered a cable Hdmi-VGA (my Tv has it also), so I will try.

Ok, with the latest tips of Ratte now I've got SuperPlus working and it looks really nice, full screen of course. I've added to the Pal mode the config of Hansel that is the best IMHO.

The only "but" is that my booting picture now isn't full screen (almost), and is a bit off centered, but perhaps I can fix that.

So this is a working config of SuperPlus Full screen. You just have to open the Indivision program in prefs, click on it's top bar "Open Config" and search this. Then press at the bottom right, on "Apply". On Screenmode prefs (on your System:Prefs) select SuperPlus HighResLaced (800x600).

With this same config you can try also if you want HighGFX 800x600, you just have to untick the default 1024x768 and use 800x600 on Screenmode prefs.

Thanks a lot Ratte.

This is with this SuperPlus version http://www.a1k.org/forum/showpost.php?p=494013&postcount=33. Don't know if there is any other.

You guys are doing nothing to encourage my adoption of these devices.
Artifacting on ATI and Nvidia GPUs usually only shows up after a prolonged period or after abuse (like overclocking).

All digital devices eventually fail, but this seems to be more common with today's hardware than with earlier hardware.

As I am just beginning to see a sharp rise in these problems appearing in old cards built on ATI R300 family (these cards having been out for a very long time), I am beginning to wonder if we will see similar problems over time with all newer GPUs.

If so, your legacy Amigas may out live "modern" hardware.

ROHS is partly to blame, as is the insistence to keep pushing smaller and faster so you are always on the bleeding edge.

I agree,  but in this case getting hold of an IndivisionMK2 card for the A4000 or CD32 seems impossible..  will Individual Computers do a batch run please..

If not then A-EON or Elbox need to bring out a new combo accelerator card with graphics output, it can be done for classic Amiga's.

I'm not holding my breathe though on Indivision..  so if Jens is reading this can we have a batch please??

Why do you ask just when the order period is over?

Quote from: Schoenfeld;919561
The pre-order period for the A4000D/CD32 version of Indivision AGA MK2cr ends today. Those of you who can't make a bank transfer and get the money into the company account in time (that is: tomorrow) will need to write me an eMail for a bitcoin funds transfer.

If you place an order in the icomp.de shop, just leave me a message in the checkout text field, so I can send you an invoice that shows the bitcoin equivalent of the order. Please note that this is not a regular service; I am still experimenting with bitcoin.

Jens

Try anyway sending them an email, but you should have bought it a week ago.

YES, I noticed a big upsurge in failures after the adoption of lead free solders.
But that can't be the only reason as i'm starting to see problems that pre-date that.

So, are all modern ICs doomed to eventual failure?

I'm not sure A-eon would be interested and Elbox has already announced one (it will be available in about two weeks). You guys DO know I'm kidding about the last part, right?

But that may not be as impossible as I used to think.

With today hardware, an accelerator that centered around an FPGA chip ought to be possible.

I've changed a bit the config as it was off centered when using Pal Interlaced that was used for booting pictures. Now it's more centered.

Here are the instructions: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=920520#post920520
