Title: What's in a name?
Post by: TrevorDick on October 24, 2013, 12:11:51 AM
Here is your chance to help select the names for the new AmigaONE models based on the Cyrus Plus motherboard and Freescale QorIQ CPU combinations. As a result of direct feedback we are listing the 12 most popular naming groups that have been suggested.

Your chance to name the babies? (http://a-eon.com/?news=18-10-2013)
If you would like to help shape the AmigaONE’s future please select your first and second choices and email your vote to:

contact@a-eon.com (contact@a-eon.com) with "Cyrus Plus" name in the subject line.

Athos, Portos, Aramis....leaves a possibility for a d'artagnan expansion board ;)

No seriously, I voted for the "P" series, I think its the best to describe the new models without touching the classic names.

Ahhh... the kings bully boys. Isn't it great how fiction turns murdering rapist thieving scum into heroes. History tells a very different story about the kings musketeers to Dumas's famous book. Oh well, at least the people of France worked out what to do with royalty in the end.

Liberté, égalité, fraternité, everyday!

As for the vote, I honestly don't care. Any of the naming systems listed work well enough for me.

They're all bad. Enough with the numbers, they were never supposed to be there; fricken Commodore.

In my email submission I have provided my view on the subject, should anyone at A-Eon care to read it. But otherwise it's Q or X which for me was 8 and 11.

I did the same, but for those who left long ago numbers might attract them.
I also asked them to show more the name Amiga than the "One" following it.
It could be done by having a different background color for Amiga and for one.
It could also be mixed by having different fonts colors in plus.

maybe they should have considered AO5000   A stand for Amiga  O stands for One.

As I've stated numerous times already I hope the new A-Eon systems continue with the successful A1-X1000 naming scheme so for me it's hands down no.12 or 11.

I'm sure that if Commodore had survived they would have "AA...A" chipset better than what Nividia and AMD are doing, they would have better expansion ports than PCI*, USB* and so on if not they would not have call their machine Amiga :)  Kamelito
