Title: Help a newbie install Catweasel Z-11 MK2?
Post by: jammarob on October 01, 2013, 04:09:34 AM
Hey guys,

I am a bit lost on what I need to install this Catweasel Z-11 MK2. I read something about patched kickstart ROMs that you can burn that make configuration a snap?

I am not familiar with this process (Been a long-time A500 user, but never had an Amiga with a hard disk), and any help would be appreciated!

I should mention, this is for an Amiga 3000. This board was working (and booting to CF) before I had to pull the battery.

The Z2 with 3 IDE ports and a FDD connector is plug-and-play as far as the IDE goes, and the FDD installs from a disk.  The only ROM you need is a bootable KS.  Could you be confusing the Catweasel MK2 FDD board?  It just needs the floppy software.

No, definitely the Z-II with IDE connectors. Unfortunately, the CF card no longer shows up as a bootable device (I only see DF0).

The card is detected and shows as functioning.

I'll give another drive a try and see what happens.

CF cards have issues with older IDE devices; this will vary with brand, but a TrueIDE adapter will sort them out.  I prefer HDD's myself for ease of installation.
