Title: Is it a broken motherboard???
Post by: doctorq on February 06, 2004, 09:32:20 PM
Hi,

for the last couple of weeks my A1200 has given me some problems. The system is as described in my signature.

When using the Workbench, on the Voodoo card of course, the computer suddenly locks up. The only thing I can do is to reset. It seems always to happen when a multitask session is going on.

Today I wanted to test my new BPPC, and an old BVision board. The problem is, that in the early boot menu my mouse can only go from left to right (and back of course) but not up and down. When using the Voodoo card, the mouse works 100%.

When I try to load Workbench on native Amiga output, the system locks up; sometimes even before everything is loaded.

I know it isn't a problem with the Blizzard1260, or the BPPC for that matter, because the libs is the newest one available. The BPPC has been tested at KDH Datentechnik in Germany, so that should be okay.

My first guess is broken CIA. Can anyone confirm?

That sounds like a possible sollution. Are you sure that it isn't overheating? The Permedia II can become quite hot IIRC.

Well, I'm pretty sure, as this happens already after 1 minute :-) The same result when using the Blizzard1260.
