Hi all,
inspired by the benchmarks I conducted in this thread (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=61979), I created a WinUAE USB stick which automatically boots into a full blown OS 3 environment. The stick is based on Debian 7.1 with WINE, WinUAE 2.6 and a modified ClassicWB. I made a short demo video, have fun: ;)

There's a small problem you'll notice in the end of the video: If you open the WinUAE configuration with F12, you can't close it anymore, no matter if you click OK or Cancel. Not sure who is to blame, probably WINE...

Why not just use FS-UAE?

Why not just use FS-UAE?
Because it is very slow. Look at the benchmarks I made (on a different machine):

It's fast here. Are you sure you enabled the JIT?

It's fast here.
Make a benchmark then.

Yes.

Make a benchmark then.
Why? It works for me.
Yes.
Have you spoken with Frode about it? He might be able to identify the problem and fix it for you.
The support forum for it is here.

To compare, just out of interest.

What do you want me to run to test it? I'll do it over the weekend sometime.
I'm not registered there...
It's a great site with lots of very knowledgeable people there, I really recommend joining. It's also the official support site for both WinUAE and FS-UAE.

lame AKsack.wav (as shown in the video).
You can find the wav file on Piru's site:

Some more benchmarks for comparison on NG machines:

I know, I've been lurking there every now and then. Maybe I'll register one day.

Video looks good, will you be making this downloadable or a list of instructions if its not that many? :)

WOW! According to your benchmarks, E-UAE is massively ridiculously faster than FS-UAE.
Did you wait a while and then repeat the benchmarks?
Because either FS-UAE just plain sux, or your computer had launched some sort of high priority background task at that moment, like an update-checker or virus checker or your forgot you were rendering the new Lord of the Rings 4 in the background :D

Well in fact I already thought about that, but then the usual problems arise. Kickstart ROMs may not be included + I am even unsure if I could include the modified ClassicWB...

I found it pretty straight forward actually, but you'll need some good knowledge about Linux. Mayby I'll make a guide, but I would have to do the install all over once more so I don't forget anything...

I did. I even tried FS-UAE on different computers with different versions of Ubuntu, it was always slow for me, at least compared to the other UAE derivates.

It doesn't suck, in fact it is a great piece of software. The features are all there, it could just use some speed optimization I guess.

Nah, no antivirus, it's Linux dude. ;)
That said, I am also using WINE, so maybe I should install one...

How can I make one, or where can I get a copy?

Be patient... ;) I've got to sort out the configuration window issue first. Plus I'm thinking of creating a new version which is easily usable for the Windows users amongst us. :)

Any results yet? ;)
