Oy!
First I HAD to install IDEfix to get my IDE CDrom working at all (A4000, BTW)
Now that it is working, I ran the OS3.9 CD to install CACHECDFS onto a 3.9 setup that had been using the BLIZZARD SCSI add on!
NOW upon booting a get a shareware message.
How do I get CACHECDFS to override IDEfix?? I am SO sick of seeing that shareware window, I actually went to the author's URL to see how much it would cost! And (natuaraly!) he no longer supports it at his site...
So I need either the serial number, OR a way to get rid of the entire mess!
Thanks one and all!
Pardon the poor grammer in this post, I'm suffering from a MASSIVE toothach and am medicated right now

remove idefix install completely , as it say in its Docs! , remove the string in cd0 etc (devs:dosdrivers/) and remove it in L: etc.
i had to do it a couple years ago , and yes its DAMN annoying to see that requestor popping up.
anyway last resort u could register it , but then again why should you? since u dont use it anymore :)
cheers
ps:giving u a serial number would be piracy so...

Thanks!!!
BTW, I was not 'fishing' for a serial number.

Why is it that all these Amiga software apps that no longer have support do not get put into freeware? The least the programmer can do is offer a public key or serial if he decides to stop supporting it and will not take registrations.

Actually you can have both in L: just rename that one you don't want to use; in case you want to compare them just rename the filesystem and dismount your CD0 assign and then mount again.
Or use different mount files and so on.

The OS3.9 ROM update fixes problems with the scsi.device, so your IDE CDrom can work without using IDEfix.
You also get a new version of CacheCDFS with it.
Change your CD mountfile (in DEVS:DOSdrivers) so the device= scsi.device unit 1 instead of atapi.device.
That should fix your problems.

THANKS to everyone!!!!
I finally got it ALL off of my drive, and it works fine with CACHE CDFS (which looks very simelar to IDEFIX, btw!)
I could not of done ot without you!
Kisses and beer all around. :pint:

I hate to break it to you but IDEFix used CacheCDFS as the CD file system... :-)
-
yes......
But without the annoying popup!!
I never had a problem with the operation, just the cheesy shareware popup, and the inablility to regester it.
Oh, and the fact I got CACHECDFS included on OS3.9.
