It's Feb and Amiwest isn't announced yet. If I were to go this year I'd need to know soon :-( I emailed the contacts from the website, but no response.
-
Just a few mins ago I did visit their website....
July 24 & 25 at "a new location" to be announced.

It must have been updated today. Cool, dates help.

Which city is AmiWest in? I might take a trip over to the states.
-
Now smithy, dont start making me envious by going to a US show... I'd love to go to one myself...
-
SACC is currently searching for a new location, the Holiday Inn hiked the rates way beyond affordability for the size of the show read: booth rates would have meant very low turnout and higher ticket prices...
Amiwest is annual event (since 1998) in the capital city of California....Sacramento.
Might *finally* be an interesting year with OS4 on the AmigaOne available and advances by Genesi on hardware front. I can't afford either but am still vaguely interested.
One wonders if Genesi will turn up this year? They put on a good showing for 2003 to a largely empty hall :-/
Dare I even speculate on AInc attendance? :D
I'm sure, however, we'll see the usual faces...too many to mention by name but 'tis always fun.
Be there or be.....somewhere....else? ;-)

I skipped the annual DJ convention in Vegas this year for a reason :-D
Here's to hoping the hotel isn't too expensive and the beer isn't cheap :pint:
-
Hmm. Well, I guess I should finally try and make it to AmiWest, especially since I live in Sacramento. :-/ It's much easier to find the time if you actually have to leave town to go to an event. You know?

Lucky you, as Ryu says it definetly makes us in the UK VERY jealous - but hope it goes well !

Last year's Amiwest was the first Amiga show I ever went to, and I'm planning to go this year too. I may even set up a table. Glad to hear it is still on. I hope you find a great place to hold it.
-
Just a reminder to the show guys if they're reading this that Amiga.org's policy allows for free banners for Amiga-related shows.

Funny, last year was my first Amiga(specific) show and I may have a booth:-) The show needs new blood, alot of the old timers moved on it seems..
-
@Wayne
Any chance you are going this year? I'll give YOU a free shirt this time if you do:-)
-
I would love to, but it's very doubtful at this point in time.
-
Come on everyone, think we can chip in to send Wayne to AmiWest?

Send? As in ship him UPS? ;-)
-
Last year's Amiwest was the first time I ever met or saw anyone else who ever bought an Amiga. It was shocking to see other Amigans. I will go again this year.
-
Its been quite some time since I've met anyone into Amiga as well. I need to try to make it up to the show this year if I have some time off. I have a sister that lives there so I can make it a two for one trip maybe.

I need commitments:-D
Actually it would be nice if some non-drinkers would go too. Last year everyone ran off to get bombed, and only CE and I were left drinking coffee. Are there any nondrinkers going :-?
-
Last year during that show I sat at home the whole day listening to the live audio broadcast and chatting on IRC. It was great audio quality and it almost felt like being there! :-) There also was a live video stream for a select few. Speaking of that, I remember that there was an informal survey about how many of those people that listened to the audio stream had fast broad band connections and were interested in video streams, and I recall that a hunch of a promise was made (I am almost certain about this ;-)) that the next year (this year), a live video stream would be available to a more general public! :-)
-
Neat. Never been to an Amiga show. This would be my first, and since I live about 50 miles from Sac, I'll have to be going to it. :-D So if commitments are what you need redrumloa, I'll be there and I most likely wont drink so save a coffee for me.
-
No, use FedEx or RPS. :-D
-
Question is, Why is there not AmiEast? :-o

Now that's what I like to hear:-) If I get some more commitments, maybe I'll get some catering at the booth. Um.. If we do get a booth, which I think we probably will. AmiJava!! :-D

Pour Once, Drink Anywhere! :-D

Likely because no East Coast user groups have organized such a beast... Now that there are several of us, we'll see how long it takes before it actually happens. ;-)
-
oh, damn!
i've had loads of fun at the shows i've gone to, but unless I get a job that really pays I can't even leave the block.
:-(
-
Hey, a grand total of 3 sips of rum slipped my lips the whole show.
I don't drink as a rule, and frankly... don't need to. More fun to watch the other drunks.
-
Hi all,
I've never been to a show either, Hmm, I wonder if I have any vacation days?
600 mile drive, no problem. You may see me there. Sounds like fun.
OS4 might be close to done by then.

;-) I may attend again, if I can afford the trip. I need to talk to Mr. Hardware about the manual for the TBC he sold me. He hasn't been responding to e-mails.

Aye. Ye speaks the truth! :-D

Amiwest is annual event (since 1998) in the capital city of California....Sacramento.
Ahhh.. that's where it is. I was thinking maybe St Louis, but that must be another show (Ami-midwest?).
Anyway, anyone else from the UK (or even Europe) fancy going? We can show those sissy Americans how to drink :-D
-
Well..what can i tell you guys..im writing this absolutely drunk (not that im an alcoholic, but my sister is going to live to France again in a couple of hours...so ..anything is a good excuse for a good beer!)...but personally..i havent ever been in an Amiga show..
I only had the chance of meeting 3 Amiga users here in my country after a failed "Amiga party"...
So , one of the few things i must do before i pass away..is going to an Amiga show!! damn it!!! Who will be the charity soul who will help me?????All i do is reading and reading..first on mags such as Amiga Format or Amiga Active..now on forums like this...
I WANNA BE IN SOME AMIGA SHOWWWWWW
:-D
-
I may go, depending on the situation at the time.
We can show those sissy Americans how to drink :-D
Hmmm...we'll see about that...;)

I'd love to, but I can't afford a holiday :-( I spent all my cash on beer and Amigas :-)
-
@xeron
ditto.
Personally I want to go to AmiGBG and AmiWest... sigh why cant things in life be free :-)
-
@takemehomegrandma
That was indeed great the live broadcasting. AmiWest has always great live coverage. I hope it is the same this year. And I sure will stay home to follow it. At least for the non-comers it is a great welcome to have this. :-)

Amiga shows are always fun. I hope to be able to go again this year. I've only missed one AmiWest since they've started, and I certainly don't want to miss any more!
-
st. louis show was called the Gateway Amiga Show, or something like that...not because of Gateway's ownership...but because of the Gateway Arch in St.Louis
I thought about going to that one, because I live relatively close...but a-las...I've never been to single show, other than a 'pc' show.
-
I did go over to the St. Louis Amiga Gateway Show in 2001! First show ever for me and enjoyed it! Not to mention, I did go on a shopping spree by accident. Hehe!
BTW, that "AmiEast" show someone is referring to...would that be any any chance that AmigaExpo 2002 we had two years ago in Maryland, USA?
Psst....how 'bout a show in Chicago, IL? :-D
-
Are there any nondrinkers going
I don't drink. I was however working into the wee hours during the show, Saturday night at the banquet being the exception. Lee, Tigger, and my wife were all plastered though so at least someone had fun.

And in another part of the hotel, we had Genesi's Neko and Hyperion's Ben Hermans drinking :-P I believe Neko has the event immortalized on www.amidrunks.com!

Another revelation: all those Am I [Hot|whatever] Or Not sites are actually about amigans. Ami-hot. Or not.

"Coming soon"...

Yo Smithy,
You don't want this. You don't have a chance. If I start, I won't stop.
Your done. I bet I'm older than you and a wee bit more practice, Bo ha ha ha.
In fun.
Chris

I'll be there. AmiEast/West, whatever...
Testing my Avatar.

@Targhan
Hehe, I remember, I was there. VERY strange private party, featuring a frankensteined Barbie doll riding a mirror ball, courtesy of Joe Torre.
I'm going again this year, I really hope Ben shows up again. The man can really throw a party :-)

@argo
when I was in the military they shipped me home from Japan FedEx no joke. wasn't too bad except for the fact they left me in st louis after all departing flight for the east coast had left. So I went out drinking got on the first flight to NY at 6am was on a plane full of models going to NY and I passed out.Duh!!! BIG SIGH!!!
Back on subject I went to Amiwest last year and that was the worst Amiga show I had ever attended. Very depressing
In the past I had gone to the Big NY shows. In the Last few years I gone to the Toronto shows and the very excellent St Louis shows. Even Kermits Maryland show on Easter had a much better turnout. Every Amiga show I had gone to in the past there was energy and a very positve upbeat feeling.
A feeling of comunity
Amiwest last year was not a very positve on anything except Amiga, Inc. bashing
It was like a wake with lots of unsavory vultures picking over the corpse.
But barring some other show date getting in the way I will be there and I will have a booth.

why am i not surprised that the phrase "frankensteined Barbie doll riding a mirror ball" is in the same sentence as "Joe Torre"
