Title: Acube taunting with new hardware - "File No. 3"
Post by: Everblue on August 18, 2013, 03:51:15 PM
What could it be? Starts with an M. My guess? Minimig in ITX format.

Sorry, but this isn't really news! ;)

My guess however is: MorphOS!

:D

Always interested in new things coming from acube.  I just love my SAM, one of the most bulletproof pieces of hardware I've ever owned.  I've prolly had $1500 worth of commodity PC hardware up and die in the time I've owned my SAM, and the SAM hasn't given me so much as a lick of problems since I bought it in late '08.

TMHG - C'mon man, your cheap shots and self promotion of your Chosen One preferences used to be a little more crafty and entertaining.  You're losing your touch!  :)  (Just giving you a hard time, man - lol)

Myself, I am just waiting for MOS on the 460.  Best of both worlds to me, MOS and OS4.

Mini ITX format or MorphOS are two nice things but I hope its something else so it will really be news worthy :)

Maybe a new board with price in between the 440 and the 460?

Well, given the architecture of the Quark Microkernel hosting the A/Box (What we know as MorphOS) I suppose it isn't too far a stretch to imagine that it could host an OS4/Box too.  Not ever likely to happen but it's a nice thought experiment. To me at least. :)

Which Sam board do you have by the way as I've had really bad feedback reports on the quality of the ACube boards from three different people. Two of them are rabid Hyperion fanboys too, so they aren't biased towards MOS in any way.

I know, wasn't the plan. Mistakenly I posted it as 'news' and when it didn't show I posted it elsewhere, and after a day the mods approve the original post, and the rest is history :P

At least here it will be seen by more people. Honest mistake though.

No worries, I just thought I was losing my marbles when I saw this new thread and it didn't have my comments from yesterday in it. lol

Most likely its not MorphOS, since the 3 others mentioned are all hardware projects.

MC68060 @100MHz in an FPGA?

We can but dream! ;)

I'd be happy with an 030 + RAM, I need nothing more than an AGA WHDLoad machine :)

I want AGA, RTG, 24/96 AHI compatible sound, USB, Ethernet, and an 060 running at no less than 100MHz before I'd shell out for an FPGA clone.

Basically I want someting that outperforms my A3000/060 and could be fitted inside it's case when it eventually dies of old age.

Haha, nice. Why don't you add a PPC on their while at it :)

BTW I'm waiting for FPGA Arcade which is enough for me.

I've got plenty of Mac hardware for my PPC MorphOS fix. :)
