Title: A2000 keyboard problem
Post by: orb85750 on August 14, 2013, 03:55:24 AM
I have one of these older A2000 keyboards with the red Amiga keys.  When I hook it up to my A2000, the computer won't boot.  The computer does work with other keyboards.  Any guesses as to what is wrong with this particular keyboard?  Is this a common problem?

No, I didn't purchase it from ebay -- at least not recently.  I've had it in my storage for at least 5 years.

Any ideas?

I have one old A2000 keyboard that does the same thing, and I found out that mine is shorted, so kinda dangerous.
The way I found out, I booted w/o the keyboard, and it was fine, but when I plugged in the keyboard, the Amiga crashed.
I took it apart and found xtal was loose, I'm not sure what else is wrong, but for sure, I'm not plugging that keyboard again!

Thanks, I'll have to open it up to see if that's the case here.

I certainly won't be plugging it in while the computer is already on.  I learned my lesson there before -- when I plugged in a bad external floppy drive and my A2000 crashed and never booted again.
