Post by: crawff on August 13, 2013, 11:50:33 AM
Hi,

Can somebody help me install the config tool for the indivison mk2?

I have unpacked the lha file to my system but cannot get any further.

I need help with the shell to install the program? (step by step and example shell commands would be helpful)

Ha, I know the feeling, having some pressing question and then having to wait for someone to come along and help.  I don't own the AGA version but have seen a lot of forum posts about how the config tool is like rocket science.  The ECS version tool is simple, by comparison.  I guess you could start by saying if you've downloaded the latest version?  Also search the forums, there have been many posts on this subject before.  Good luck! :)

That's pretty much what I've read too. I'm actually kinda worried about bricking my IndiAGAMKII if I screw it up. Maybe search over at EAB http://eab.abime.net/ as there was a bit of discussion over there.

I don't think you will easily damage/brick the Indivision AGA MK2, as I have had early versions of the flash tool fail leaving the MK2 with no video. All I needed to do was switch to composite and reflash it again... Just make sure you have some secondary form of video.

Its just a little trial and error tuning it for your specific monitor, not rocket science.

@bbond007

That's good to know.....

This link over at AmiBay is a lot of info to wade thru but maybe some hints here...  http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=29035

I changed my MKII to actually use my monitors DVi, gone were all the vertical stripes, image was center perfectly and the image is sharp as a razor blade.
So if you can use DVI do it, its worth it.

The DVI signal carries a lot more information than the VGA signal.  On all of our Dell monitors here when you hook up DVI the controls to adjust things like centering are actually disabled, because the signal already takes care of all of that.  It actually drives me kind of crazy when I see anyone still using VGA, since most of the time it's misconfigured, lol.  ;)

I can give some guidance when I get home from work tomorrow, I had problems with the config tool (I made a thread here and thought something was faulty) but when I sat down and used it for a while it was quite simple to use and I got all modes perfect fullscreen on my DVI monitor without any issues.

So ill try to get time and remember to post something here tomorrow after work, I got 9h left of work then a 2,5h car ride home from work then ill check back :)

I found on my samsung what worked best was to make some custom modes with the VGA tool:

724x480@65 -> NTSC MODES
724x580@72 -> PAL MODES

Hope that helps....

Im home, well I don't see your problem with the installer? Doesn't it work?
Just unpack the archive to ram drive (or wherever you like), open shell and type install when your in the directory?

I can unpack the folder to RAM drive..now what?

1: Go to system and open shell
2: then type "CD RAM:"
3: Then just type "install"
4: Done.

If you have the files inside a drawer on ram disk then before typing install type "CD" followed by drawer name (example "CD agamk2_cfg_install") and then type install.

No luck. I try putting all the files in the ram disk and also in the original folder but I get the following error message on the shell: install: file is not executable

Perhaps it will be easier for you to run the installer with an script:

Try copying this Icon/Script inside the AGAMKII config install from IC web, and doubleclick on it.

try protect +s [fileName you are trying to run]

then try again, that tells AmigaDOS its a script.

if its an exe then protect +e [fileName]

hope that helps. good luck...

Hi,

The install script worked - thanks!

The problem now is trying to get the config tool to display picture which isn't either zoomed in so much that i cannot see any folders or the opposite.
