Hello Amiga Community,
We are extremely please to announce the room rate for the AmiWest 2013 hotel. If you are planning on attending the show there is no better place to stay then the show hotel. We realize that year was not a desirable situation and the hotel facilities were, poor at best. Those who attended in 2011 will attest how nice the hotel was and the tasty breakfast in the morning.
This year's hotel will cost $76 with the booking code "AMI". That's a great rate anywhere you stay!
Along with being back at the good hotel we will also have some great news with regards to the banquet so keep an eye on the blog for announcements!
To visit the hotel's website click here: http://www.hiexpress.com/sacramentone
For Brian's blog click here: http://apps.amiwest.net/blog/
For the AmiWest main page click here: http://www.amiwest.net/
Thanks and see you at the show.

That sounds like a pretty awesome rate. Sadly, I'll probably be missing another year :(
-
As usual I'll be staying at the Super 8 Hotel, 4317 Madison Ave., roughly a mile east of the Holiday Inn Express. Currently, the Super 8's rates at http://www.super8.com are $46 for Saturday night ($38.64 for AARP or other affiliation), not including tax. Also if you belong to their rewards' plan, you earn points for a free stay.

Hear hear!
Pittsburgh is soooo lonely.

Heck yeah for AmiEast! I remember MARCA was in Pennsylvania (King of Prussia maybe?) a long long time ago and that was AMAZING......
-
@olds
To repeat myself, (again) START ONE! ie amiEast... grin
Get Ezrec and Madshib to help you.
And of course You could still come to California for vacation and do AmiWest (the one and only)

@kick
True...Only North American Amiga show, with Trevor from New Zealand, Matthew from England,
Steven from Canada...well if you came, you would see the larger world for yourself...
-
I'd love to go someday. Its the airfare that always kills it for me dammit.
I'd also like to see AMIEAST, I'm in Philadelphia,PA. Philly would be a great place to have that... much cheaper than NYC...
Just sayin...

Or Atlanta, Knoxville, Raleigh....

Or Atlanta, Knoxville, Raleigh....
No votes for Washington, DC, yet? Geeze folks, it's right in the middle, even BBRV of Genesi "fame" had a show here back in 2003. The most famous Amiga "celebrity" I've ever met. Still have his business card kicking around somewhere. Ha! :D

Looks like it's $324 from PHI to SFO on Oct 18th and Oct 20th. Here's the link: http://www.kayak.com/flights#/PHL-SFO/2013-10-18/2013-10-20
With two nights in the hotel and an banquet ticket would run about $500. I'm sure someone can help with transport between the airport and the show.
Just saying.

Very strange for basically computer most popular in Europe :-)
But US is still big market, so we have to wait for Planeta Amiga in Italy, or similar (for you I assume some Polish or German show)

http://www.amigameeting.de/index.php?c=amiga&p=englisch - a rather big meeting (for Amiga scale) in northern Germany on October 11th-13th.
I think there are quite many meetings in Europe.

There's nothing like that in the UK anymore sadly. There's the LAG every few months but it's not on the same scale as amigameeting.de or Amiwest are.
No demoscene parties anymore either. :(

Yes i know but i dont talk about meetings... in europe there is many users meetings that you can see more interesting things than in amiwest, and better don talk about the past... assembly in 90s was very nice.

The closest I got to a Amiga party is Datastorm each year, I would like to attend something like Amiwest at least once :)

There were rumours regarding the resurrection of the old UK show (I forget the name).
We also have the smaller Amiga North Thames events.
No demoscene parties? Do you forget Sundown?

I'm seriously tempted by Amiwest but wondering if there'll be enough there to justify the cost.

I am thinking about attending. Any idea on how many people show up to this event?

You're already in AZ. Two tanks of gas and you're there, buddy. If I was anywhere even remotely that close I would be too. ;) *sigh*

I could have sworn I read Sundown had finished for good. Glad to see it's still alive, I'm tempted to go this September but Exeter is a looooong train journey from oop north.
There is a Chiptune festival in Manchester the week after Sundown actually.

Don't forget there is the Netherlands Commodore Show in Maarssen every 2 months. Usually 80 to 120 people attend this Commodore and Amiga event. For a tiny bit of information on the next show, dig around http://commodore.hcc.nl/

Don't forget Amiga North Thames meetings. When I get back to Europe in 2014, I intend to get to both a LAG and an ANT meeting.

Wasn't Commodore, when it had Amiga (the first time), in West Chester, Pennsylvania? :elvis:

Ha, we should have a meetup there. ;) Actually I've been scouting their old facility on Google Maps, looks like it's still there, although from what I've heard the building is completely gutted and the ground around it is full of hazardous waste. Still planning on doing a drive-by photography trip though, next time I go visit family up in PA. ;)

That was a different facility. CBM headquarters in West Chester is now QVC (that shopping network).
