Hey all
Anyone know how to extract an archive on My Amiga that has unix 64 long filenames?
Lha will do it except it will try to overwrite the last extracted file with the new
one as its going because the file name changes only towards the end where the amiga cant see. any ideas?

How long are these filenames?
Amiga filenames can only be 107 chars long.
Your ram: disk already supports all 107 chars so place the archive in your RAM: drive and extract it there. That will probably solve your problem quickly.
In the future you should install a filesystem to your hard drive that supports long filenames (107 chars) such as PFS3AIO edition free from Aminet. It is super super super fast and does all 107 chars if you activate the long filename option.
PFS3 has a limitation of only 104GB per partition. So if your hard drive is larger than that you have to break it into multiple partitions.

The older FFS versions only support 31 character filenames. When extracting LHA files it may be possible, but cumbersome, to get what you need through a combination of the "overwrite existing file" dialog, respond no, then deleting a file, then saying yes... ugh, any way of looking at it that would be painful, however. Hope a better solution comes along soon!

Oh yeah woops
iv got an amiga 500 running os2.
Id rather not format and install another file system lol.

unlha to RAM: and it will work just fine on your machine.

I have a >200MB PFS3 partition on my PowerMac.

How big is your hard drive? I know it's a ball ache but backing it up installing pfs3aio to the RBD and then formatting the drive and copying the contents back will make your machine faster and more stable and forever solve the longfilename problem.

I was told it was a little over 100GB. What is the actual limit?

Ignore me. Too early in the morning and the caffiene+nicotine+sugar to blood ratio is too low atm.
I've got a 50GB PFS3 Partition and a >200GB IceFS partition on the PowerMac HDD.
My Powerbook has 2GB SFS System and 62GB PFS3 Work partition on the SSD.
/Me goes to make proper northern brew*. If that doesn't do the trick, the rest of the day will be a complete mental shambles!
*Put tea bag in cup, add sugar to cup, pour water from kettle into cup IMMEDIATELY as the kettle reaches boiling temperature, stir contents of cup, wait 3 minutes minimum, stir again, squeeze tea bag and remove, add tiny tiny tiny minscule amount of milk. Resulting brew should be dark brown in colour, very strong to taste and offensive to shandy drinking southerners and Americans. ;)
