Title: WinUAE 0.8.24 Released
Post by: StevenJGore on February 05, 2004, 07:41:48 AM
WinUAE 0.8.24 has been released here (http://www.winuae.net/).

Quote

Bugs fixed:

- Windows 9x/ME duplicate keypresses when using USB-keyboard
- bsdsocket emulation updates (TCP:, Apache)
- saving compressed state file without zlib1.dll created broken state file
- crash after saving four or more state files

New features:

- improved multimonitor compatibility
- sound volume slider and keyboard shortcuts
  (END+numpad -, END+numpad + and END+numpad *, also multimedia keys Volume +- and Mute)
- configurable floppy drive sound emulation :)
- improved debugger (new breakpoints, memwatch points etc..)
- Windows XP-compatible multimouse support, improved input-support
- FDI 2.0-disk image format

and some smaller updates..

Don't know why WinUAE releases don't make the news on Amiga.org anymore, I bet that a significant number of visitors to this site use WinUAE and therefore would be interested.

The news page has been updated, but the download section hasn't had the file uploaded yet.

The file is available at Back2Roots via FTP (http://ftp://ftp.back2roots.org/pub/winuae/).

New version is great. I dont know why its not posted here as much myself. UAE is at the point now that stuff can work on it even better then on a real Amiga. Its just funny how much CPU power it takes for a PC to run software that ran on a 7MHZ machine back in the day!

I think WinUAE releases aren't listed on main news because they happen so often - and other Amiga news happens so little. You'd have a big queue of WinUAE releases in the news - not a pretty sight. ;-)

Probably WinUAE news here should be limited to major releases. Anyone who uses it no doubt watches the download site very carefully anyway.

Hey Steve,

Not trying to pick on you, but I'm shocked this news had yet to be submitted to the news submission link (http://www.amiga.org/modules/news/submit.php) found on the home page just above the news.  In any case, I had a bit of free time while polishing the last of my latest essay after working on the new AO engine.  Please remember, all of the members of AO (including me) can submit news to the site whenever you want, pending moderation of course.  Located on the administrative section is a highlighted area which shows any news happening, links broken, images uploaded, classifieds posted, and forum conversations.  Posting news using the news submission link alerts the moderators and webmasters of news to be edited and posted.

We do rely on user feedback and user submissions to keep the news going.  From time to time you will see a friendly reminder of this.  Thanks for posting the information in the forums at least, I might not have caught it if I didn't see it in the latest topics.

I genuinely had no idea, and I can't believe I'd never seen the "Submit news item" link! I didn't mean any offence to anyone by saying that it was never posted as a news item anymore, but at least I know where to sumbit news in future!  :-)
