Amiga 2000 - Repaint
Here we go, my first repaint project is finished.
I always wanted to fix up my A2000 since i got him.
He had four owners before me and was in a really poor state.
Scratches all over him and some strange glue stuff on the sides.
So i decided to give this old granny a new look I choosed black matte lacquer
and some silver / golden chrome adhesive foil wich i cutted with my Plotter
(yea one of the few advantages being a advertising designer :D).
I almost painted everything, also the old bromite colored Amiga disk drives.
I especially like them because of the red led lights! The front cover of the 5 1⁄4 floppy
bay was also gone so i replaced that too.
Althought there where a few things i could not fix, 2 holes in the front digged by
a pre owner to fit some switches and a extra led beside the harddrive led.
Hope you like it.

I was always opponent to paint Amiga to other than original colour, but this A2000 in black looks great :afro:
-
That is the best repaint ever. I think it is better than the original.
-
It looks very good, better then the original, I just hope you prepared the surface the right way so it wont peel off over time.
-
Thanks;)
@djole
Ofcourse i did special care for the right priming for all the Parts. It should last for the next 20 years now :D
-
Nice job, im no fan of black on anything but I liked your A2000 :)
-
Looks good.
-
That's a really really nice paint job. Great work!
-
Haha, what the heck is "don't ask" in the second picture? ;)
-
@oldsmobile
OMG you asked! Now the Grimreaper will follow you! ;D
no seriousley, those are resoldered cables because this old amiga powersupply got non AT
Power voltages as output. Infact to run modern hardware (Yayy IDE drive) you have to switch the 5V against the 12 V line. Otherwise it fries your drive.

I've never tried to run an IDE hard drive in my A2000 but have been considering it. Can you post a link to more details on this mod?
-
i sadly have no link, i fried one of my drives and wondered why so i noticed that the psu delivered 5v where 12v should be, so i cut the wires in the middle and reconnected them, thats all ;) Anyhow it seems just very early models had this problem.
-
Thanks! I haven't ran into any power issues with mine (using various SCSI drives), but will be sure to check output with a multimeter before hooking up any IDE devices. :)

I have an orig. black Amiga keyboard for ya.. lol.. just kidding I'm keeping that one :-)
