Title: Cabalistic meaning behind the name AMIGA
Post by: guest3110 on August 06, 2013, 10:59:20 AM
This will only be interesting, I think, to those who like metaphysics, semiotics, etc.

One can download a free (non-Amiga) software program call the Cabalistic Calculator at http://www.2near.com/edge/cabalistic/

Typing in any name or word yields the cabalistic meaning for it. The FATE or future of the entity.

Typing in AMIGA, one gets "Court. Judgment. Ruin."
(come to think of it, a lot of the scrambled words from the same name equal that. Agima, for example).

"AMIGA OS" fares better: at least it includes "Favors, Honors, Glory" and "Long Existence"

Typing in Commodore OS, it includes "short and unhappy life"

It's a fun program to play with. One launching a new product might do well to check in with this calculator--in a "it wouldn't hurt" or "can use all the luck I can get" kind of way. ;-)

I just updated. I noticed I was still using an older version. Some of the results have changed. (used to say 'court judgment ruin' for Amiga, now it says 'tribunal, judgment judge'). Hmm.

Maybe new version is buggy

I will now try to get the old version , seems more accurate :laugh1:

:D Maybe so.

old version had 'honors' and 'glory' associated with "Amiga Inc"
new version has "divine favor"

A few letters make all the difference.

I suppose they refined a few things. It's numerology-based. The programmer told me awhile back that he was hired by some Jewish clerics or rabbis or something to write the program for them, to their specifications.

Kabbalah uses the Hebrew alphabet so I don't know where these Latin alphabet numerical values come from.

Assigning meaning to individual letters in a word produces results in some pretty random results.

paedophile: 5. The stars, happiness, graces, marriage.
pedophile: 4. Solidity, wisdom, power.

Whether you think the calculator works says more about your own prejudices than it does about the calculator.

Exactly, and the fact that modern Hebrew is so far removed from ancient Hebrew.

None the less, fun program. :)

400. Long and wearisome voyage.
41. Ignominy (deep personal humiliation and disgrace)

(the second one relating more to the Truth)

"psxphill" under the older version: 350. NAIVETÉ, HOPE IN JUSTICE

Well whatever algorithm it uses results are interesting to read at least :

Linux - Holiness Widowhood, Imperfection, diminution, grief, pain, expectation.

Commodore - Safety, belief, faith, philosophy, Destruction, death, catastrophe.

Apple - Divine favour , Fertility.

Yeah. When inputting "Amiga Inc." it yields Divine favour. But just "Amiga" and one gets the bad stuff. Weird.

I trust only a portion of the kabbalistic numerology--I think other parts are wrong. For example, when some seek to find 'the name of the beast' (the number of the beast, 666), I think it is erroneous.

"Bill Gates"
Old version:
200. LACK OF RESOLUTION
 50. CAPTIVITY FOLLOWED BY LIBERTY, HAPPINESS
  4. RASHNESS, LARGESSE, POWER

New version:
200. Irresolution.
 50. Pardon, liberty.
  4. Solidity, wisdom, power.

:D

Well the language is, the alphabet is the same though. But it doesn't map onto the Latin alphabet in a 1:1 relationship, not even the same number of letters (Hebrew has 22).

As far as I know, you are correct there. The symbols are the same, but the meaning behind words has changed to adopt to the prevailing traditions, such as the word Elohim. Seems to be a lot of dispute around that one.

Anyhow, Hebrew is just an amazing language, the fact that everything was constructed to break down numerically is just amazing.

It wasn't... in fact there's no evidence of the use of Hebrew numerals until the Hellenistic period (~3rd century BC), it seems they got the idea from the Greeks.

The Greeks?! Now this story I have to hear. All I have ever seen was evidence of the Greeks borrowing ideas (sometimes sloppily) from everyone around them, especially the Indians and Egyptians. I love running into conflicting ideas in history!!! :)

INteresting thread. I'm into the esoteric. There is ALOT of symbology in Amiga land.. especially from Chris H of poseidon fame. His name is Platon, you have Deneb, Helios, etc. There is a lot of this in games too like Archon for example.

If you guys are really interested in this subject I highly recommend somehow getting a copy of Manfred P Hall's THE SECRET TEACHINGS OF ALL AGES.

I dont give a lot of weight to Jewish mysticism and Quabbalah in particular but i'm interested in the number systems and matrices

My friend has that book, but sadly he's fundamentalist Christian, so needless to say, it just sits on his shelf as a show piece, and naturally he's convinced that it's Satanic and this and that. I wish he'd just give it to me, but I'm sure he knows I'd read it openly, with discernment of course, but certainly openly.

Oh yeah, I know--and I recognized Deneb and Helios when I saw them. :)

(btw, back when I did play computer games, I loved Archon II--the one with the wraith and juggernaut :biglaugh: )

I'll have to remember to keep an eye out for that book, when I'm in the shopping mood.

I'm with ya on that last point, too.

Yes, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_numerals

There was a lot of borrowing in all directions in the ancient world. The Greek alphabet is derived from the Phoenician (as is the Hebrew one), which in turn was derived from Hieroglyphs. The Greeks got a lot of ideas from Babylon, for instance the four elements and astrological signs, but Babylonians wrote their numbers in base 60 so they didn't get numerals from them, but it is why there are 60 minutes in an hour &c.
