Even when tech only costs $35 people still find something to complain about.

Yes, but not about the price.

It's a very interesting device, apparently it streams all content from the 'cloud' and basically turns your TV into a 'Smart TV'.
Some people are saying that Google will now use this to replace their own Smart TV Tech.
With the right TV controller and some minor updates this could get very interesting :)
There's already some videos of using it to play emulators, who knows what else we will see. This would need some kind of custom TV controller to work, or even better, if they can add support for game controllers.
You could also use it as a cheap media server by uploading all of your files to your Google Movies collection.

The last time I actually watched a TV show when it aired was The Red Green Show, and that concluded in 2006...

Now we need Google to create an App for AmigaOS that lets it stream to the Chromecast.

It's been years for me as well. Mostly because of those damned commercials.

I haven't watched TV in ages either, tho a few years ago I started building HTPCs and nowdays I download and watch what I want without commercials, my wife tho do use the HTPC to stream video from services like Netflix.

Yep that could work, OS4 as a $5 App that I can use on my tablet and then Cloud-Cast to my HDTV, quick Hyperion get moving!

If it cost $3.50 I could find problems with X product. The problem is not the price but rather the feature set. But, like any other technology, it will appeal to some and not others. Apparently the target demographic of PC Mag will not be the appealed-to crowd for the ChromeCast. The technology is interesting to me, but the product is not. I'd rather hack it and make it do something else.

I watch cable TV, but if you search it out, it can be cheap. I would be lost without TCM (Turner Classic Movies) - no commercials by the way. I also watch the History channels, science channel , and National Geographic.
I have very little trust in Google however. Time will tell....

Yes, let's start a bounty to collect funds so we can send them a Sam, that'll do it!
()
