I'd like to build an amithlon machine. With aros, its best to just use supported hardware. With this being said I hear amithlon is the same.
If you have a great working amithlon machine, can you list your video, sound and network card type?
I plan on getting well supported hardware on ebay for giving it a go...
Thanks in advance for everyone's thoughts...

i think someone provided patched updated kernel for amithlon, you gotta check out on a1k. do you know this update:

So does the updated kernel work with most hardware?
No idea, I'd prefer to just use old school used hardware to be sure it will work from a cd install...
Anyone know some common net, video and soundcards the amithlon cd install will work "out of the box" with?

Have a nforce2 system that is supposed to be 100% supported by amithlon. I even tried the kernel 4 still no joy.
Geforce 4 card works but wont do 1024x768.
ATI 9200 is also supposed to be supported but no joy there. Corrupt graphics :-/
Nforce2 USB is detected but wont mount any flash drives. Going to keep trying though.
Might look at the linked kernel.

Got it running fairly well on an Asus A8N-SLI mobo (AMD X2 4200+ CPU), 1 GB RAM, with an nvidia 7800. Not as smoothly as I'd like, but better than I had expected.
Had issues with SATA drives with it though, so currently using an old IDE HD and optical drive.

Can this thing be patched to run on a modern system, like a i7 based machine for example?
-
guess that would be overkill to have most cores idle and such.

Works on Core 2 E6300 @2.8 GHz here with SATA SSD drive.

The Amithlon CD you have contains the updates from that A1K archive, Kernel 4 supports newer hardware, the readme in the archive has a list.
