I'm really happy that the site has been updated. I like Punkie's new pic and I think he has done a great job putting together that website. :-)
-
I agree, and look how hot Skyraker is!!! Shame about that ugly monkey in the left though :-P
-
Thanks, glad you people are enjoying the site :-)
Heh, I was tempted to put up a picture of myself with a rather nice girl I met at new year, but I didn't because I thought it would be wrong to exploit her image in order to make myself look cooler... uh, okay I didn't use it 'cause I look like a dork in that picture. ;-)
-
I like the magazine-type ad:
You're face here!
-
I actually put that in as a place-holder, 'cause I'm lazy. If you look at the HTML you might guess why. Every time I put a single new image in, I have to shift everyone's image down round the table tags and things...
I need to come up with a better way to organise it all. Actually I've just had a small brainwave...

Odd how so many people have facial hair... prerequisite of Amiga fan status? :-)

Aren't beards a sign of uber-majesty in Unix circles?
-
Yea great idea...
But is it not better to have the images as reduced sized buttons (all the same height)

The page will load a bit faster....
Just a suggestion....
And clicking on their name will take you their website...?
:-D

Naah, too lazy to shave :-) (shouldn't that smiley have a beard?)

Yet? Try "at all" or "ever" :-) I'm not even sure I want anyone to know who I am at the Newcastle OS4 demo either! :-)

Eh, what, sorry? :-)

So you HAVE got facial hair?!?
A witch!
:-)
She has got a wart!
And this isn't my nose, it's a false one!

Do you weight as much as a duck Cecilia?

We desperately need to do something about all the people wearing ties though. They're giving us a bad reputation
:-)

The picture of me at Amigans.co.uk looks more like me than the one on Amiga.org. It has some unfortuanate text next to it though hence no direct link. When will I learn to keep my strange sense of humour to myself?!?

@Mike_Amiga
Yes, but most people look different when they're being eaten alive by a cliff :-P

That is true about not looking like the "rock" picture. At the Bath show, I embaressingly stood next to him while asking Ryu and Nick if he had turned up yet.

Ummm... I don't think so. The image scaling you suggested would scale the image in the user's browser AFTER they already downloaded it. The proper way to do what you suggest would be to scale the images on the server side, sorta like how we are forced to do with our avatars.
Your suggestion may however help improve the overall look of the site, but some images will be stretched a fair bit and look even freakier then they already are. ;-) (that's a joke btw :-D ).

Look again. ;)
But I agree with that it sucks to make the clients scale images. The width=x height=y is quite good to have there, as long as it specifies the actual size of the image (makes the layout rendering quicker, and you can see where there's supposed to be pictures if they're broken or you've got image loading turned off).

Blobrana's is a thumbnail in this vein, have a click :-) It works nice enough, thing is I don't have the time to resize everyone's pics and everything. Besides that most people's images are not so much bigger than the tags specify, so there's no real performance hit. The idea was never to have ultra-high-res pics of everyone, just big enough photos so you can actually see what they look like (cyka take note ;-))
I'm thinking about getting my webserver back up and running and then maybe I can run some kind of photo album PERL/PHP scripts (open to suggestions there if anyone knows what might look nice)...
Thing is my home server couldn't cope with hosting Faces. 128kbps upstream is not a lot when you're getting the kind of hits Faces does (tens of thousands so far by my estimate :-o) so I'd have to keep the actual images on my faster NTL webspace... maybe via an automated FTP upload... goddamn it's complicated!

My word A.org is getting one hell of a kinky place.

My only worry with that is that people might not take the time to see all the pictures, so say if I split it in half, the people in N-Z won't have their pics seen as often.

Actually my hair is a perfectly normal sort of length at the moment. Which reminds me, I need to get it trimmed, getting untidy round the back&sides...

i was going to post "man Handle", but you are more subtle.

Hmmm... Well, if you're worried about the bandwidth of the pictures themselves, you can store the actual pics on the server they are currently stored on, and have YOUR server generate HTML linking to them. This way, the load on your server will be pretty tiny. Even better would be to simply have your perl script generate the HTML and then just batch copy everything over to the current server. This too should work as the Faces web site is pretty static, and would only need updating when new faces are added.

-
Yeah, in her bathtub :-(
-
Well, Kennedy's goons arranged a bedsheet over her body, which was face-down on a bed.
She couldn't really stop anybody who wanted to lift it . . . for a peek, though!
-
I saw a woman on tv once who was a massive Elton John fan that had the lyrics to I'm still standing tatooed on the top of her back, Your Song in the middle and a bit further down she had the lyrics to CANDLE IN THE WIND!!!!

According to Cecilia I have to be very young. Yet I do have a beard, so I do not think that's the explanation.

Update!
Well, I know this is terribly off-topic... ;-) but Faces of Amiga.org has just been updated, four new pics, and they're quite interesting ones too! Say hello to Abou27, CaptainHIT, SlimJim and the cherubic sumner7 :-)
Go see! (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/christopher.sheffield/facesofamigaorg)
-
I didn't know that SlimJim had some sort of a robotic arm built-in to his body.

Cute! I just realized in my pic there's a red spot on my head! I wonder how I managed that? Of course the fact that I can't remember is a bit unnerving lol
Anyway hello everyone that's me, and I've been an Amiga lover since 1994.
I'll be going out of town until late tomorrow so I'll see how I do while not checking amiga.org in that time :-(
-
I really should update my picture on there...
-
sumner7,
You look really proud in that mug shot. What you proud of, you monitor?

As far as insults go, that's fairly unorthodox ;-)
