Title: Skidmarks Via ParNET Cable?
Post by: carvedeye on July 04, 2013, 12:06:22 AM
Hi all don't know if this should be in hardware or software as I don't know if it is one or the other but I am trying to get skidmarks to work on both machines so that I can play with my son. I am using a ParNET Cable and have installed parBENCH on to both systems but the game just does not want to talk to each other? I am able to get both Amiga's to see each other and transfer files etc.. to one another but the game just does not want to play?

Isn't Skidmarks a Serial Port (Modem?) multiplay game?

Does PARBench try to emulate the serial port over the parallel port?
If not, you'll probably need a Serial Null modem cable for that..

Looks like it'd be the right one (unless you have an Amiga 1000, it's serial port is the other gender).

My cable came today and I am now able to play multiplayer games with both Amiga's :)

Don't forget Stunt Car Racer!

If you have 2 Amigas that are upgraded just a bit, say 2 Amigas of 25Mhz 030 or better, then the framerate and controls of Stunt Car Racer are much better and smoother!  And its just a great game when you both have your own monitor to look at!

One of the Lotus games is datalinkable (null modemable) too.  For 2 player simultaneous action.

But the next Lotus game is datalinkable AND you can have 2 player split screen on each Amiga!  That means you can have 4 ppl playing simultaneously!  Its kewl!

For all the above games I recommend using AGA Amigas because they have more gfx bandwidth and faster processors and give a better framerate.  You can really notice the smoother action in these games.

If you are playing these games on a plain old ECS A500 with 7Mhz 68000 then you are missing out a bit.

Only Amiga makes it Possible. :D

Oh, put Firepower on your list...
That was the first game I played over the internet (via Serial to Ethernet adapters) with a distant Amiga user....

Was pretty fun..
(For some reason, the "CHAT" window would crash the game if we used it, but once we figured that out, the game worked great...)

Well, except for the fact that I lost..  Pretty badly..  ;-(   ;-)

Falcon and Flight of the Intruder by Spectrum Holobyte are both null-modem cable network-capable.
