Title: Seagate 1.2 4 gig drive in an A1200
Post by: punkyclown on June 08, 2013, 04:18:31 AM
I have just gotten one of these Seagate 1.2 4 gig drives.  I know they will work in an A1200 because I saw one advertised with that installed.  My Amiga 1200 seems to recognize the drive is there but that's all.  Any one have an idea how to initialize this drive.

Thanks
Brad Hansen

Run HDToolBox, It's in the Tools drawer.
Here you can see the Drive, and can initialize, make partitions, etc.

Thanks for that, but that is what I did.  It did recognize the drive, but did not allow me to do anything.  Said I needed to define the type.  But not sure how to define it.

Since HDTools doesn't recognize the drive I need to define it, How many Cylinders, heads, block per track? How do I define the size? isn't there some 3rd party software that could help?

Change Drive Type -> Define New -> Read Configuration -> ok -> ok. That's it.
