I've heard that the 1.3 is more compatable with old games. Are their any games that are inconpatable with 1.3, but not 2.0x?
Actually yes, there are quite a few games that don't work on 2.0. I'd say keep the 1.3 installed if you want it for games.

Keep it. Some games require it, but very few will break because of it.
BTW, wasn't I supposed to sell you something :-? Memory and ide cable?

When I had my first A500 (KS1.3)
I don't remember any game needing 2.x to work, just needing 1MB RAM (apart from AGA games). So if I were you I'd keep it as it is.
The extra memory might be needed by some games, and will make copying disks etc a lot easier, and you can usually disable it with a switch.
So I'd probably leave it as it is :-)
edit: redrum beat me to it :-)

If you want to play classic games, then go for 1.3. 2.x has compitable probs with many older games sadly..

Cool. How about the 3.1 ROM? (I'm guessing it's worse)
@Red
Yeah, I thought you forgot or gave up finding it. I finally broke down today and ordered the cable (though I would have rather ordered from you). How about A600 or A500 RAM (we shall see when if the A500 works)?
@Cyberus
Is it hard to install this switch that can disable the extra ram? Any links?
@All
How much RAM does an A600 have I have heard 2MB and I've heard 1MB?

It's actually better than 2.0x but worse than 1.3.

1MB per default, another 1MB in the trapdoor, more megabytes on an accelerator (nice), and up to 4MB in the PCMCIA slot (not good, don't even consider it :-)

Anyway, I thought I might lend out the A500 to my buddy so when the fellas end up at his house we have some cool old stuff to play around with.
It will come with a 1.3 ROM, but I have a 2.04 and 2.05 in my "den of geekdom."
I've encountered some problems (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6114) when I tried to fit a 2.05 ROM in an A500+ :-( . I hope this work for you, I'm waiting for feedback...

Well some RAM expansions have the switch, some don't. To be honest, I don't ever remember needing to turn the RAM expansion off....
It might be possible to install a switch on a RAM expansion that doesn't have one, but I don't think it'd be worth the hassle.

@Jope:
Actually, using a PCMCIA memory expansion makes sense with A600 as it is 16bit, thus the speed on it is on par with the system.
It only doesn't make sense if you have an expanded A600 which runs on a 68020+ CPU and of course with A1200.

Not better than 2.x if you want to play classic games that is.. I dont think 3.1 is very useful, unless you want to run newer apps, amigaos and so on..
1.2-1.3 is definitely best for classic games, before aga...
-
Are you sure it's the same speed as CHIP RAM? I'm under the impression that the PCMCIA bus is slower regardless.
-
Given the rarity of A600 accelerators, I'd rather have Fast RAM with a bad transfer speed than no RAM at all.
