Title: Starting from HD
Post by: Musicman on May 23, 2013, 11:18:53 PM
Everything worked fine.... didnt like the wb screen which was a cartoon, wanted original so thought I could fix it!!!! now all it does is go into amigados screen..... I can boot with 2.5 wb, 3.1 discs show errors, only if HD not connected. How do I get around this? It will list harddrive but thats all.:pint:I might not be describing things correctly.:pint:Hic

Working on computers drunk = bad idea. Are you saying you changed something in your startup-sequence, possibly to remove a boot pic?

There could be multiple problems.
If it boots to HD and you only get cli prompt, try to type LOADWB and see if it boots to workbench.
If it does, then probably the Startup-sequence is missing, bad, or renamed.
In WB, in the run command, type ED A and press enter, then do file open, go to S folder and try to find STARTUP-SEQUENCE.

Thanks will try that.
Remembered what happened was.
1. Didnt like background
2. thought that if I re installed 3.1 WB then it would revert to original screens.
3. As it was loading error came up on disk.
4. After that HD did not respond just to cli.
5. have to disconnect HD for it to load 2.5 WB.
Tried LOADWB and it asks for disc ENV in any drive.......

That's normal, just cancel it.
Now, try to find the startup-sequence.
