Hi !
I have just bought an used Amiga 500. I was a happy user back in the mid 90's, and wanted to play Sensible soccer again (http://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) Starting up and setting cables etc. went fine, but when I inserted the floppy disc I felt that it took long time to load. After 2-3 minutes I took out the disc, while it was still running in the discdrive. I restarted the computer, but unfortuanetely the tv-screen was now yellow, and the power LED is constant blinking. I have triet to restart by pressing Ctrl+the two amiga buttons, and turning the power supply off/on, but nothing happens. Can anyone help me with this problem ? Ok, here's what to check for a yellow boot screen. If the machine has a ram expansion in the trapdoor slot underneath, remove it. If this cures the problem, check the connections between the card and Amiga.
If that doesn't work, it's time to take the top off of the Amiga and check that the chips are seated, especially agnus (the square one) and the CPU (the big long one). Just press down on them with a little force, not too much though!
Try this and let us know how you get on.

Thank you Dr. Bongo. Your advice did the trick. The machine runs fine now, after I disconnected the extra ram. I can't see what the problem is with the extra ram, but at least now I know the machine don´t malfunction :)

Could very well be damage from a leaking battery if you're talking an A501.

This could very well be the case, and the A501 wasn't the only expansion to use a battery. Check the card for leakage. If so, make sure that the pins on the Amiga's board haven't gone green also. If you've got green pins, it's time to strip and clean the amiga before it does any damage.
