Title: Belleville Rendez-Vous
Post by: that_punk_guy on February 01, 2004, 01:15:17 PM
I don't know if any of you knew about this, but I've just been watching the DVD extras for the French animation 'Belleville Rendez-Vous'. (Brilliant film, btw.) Check out this frame from the 'Making Of' feature below:

That is what I think it is, right?

:-)

Difficult to be sure....

The keyboard looks as if it is an Amiga keyboard, and the unit looks as if it could be an A4000. I suppose it itsn't clear enough to zoom in and have a look...?

How long ago was the animation produced, anyway?

Made in 2002 :-)

The JPEG above is the actual size of the video, it looks a little clearer in motion though.

Hi,

Well if the animation movie you are referring to is 'les triplettes de Belleville' it might very well be an amiga. The movie is partly made by belgians and a year ago I visited alot of animation departments of art schools here in Belgium and all of them had at least one amiga. The school I went to, Rits in Brussels, has TEN A4000s at their animation department. They were mainly used for time-lapsed framegrabbing I guess, and it seems they are still being used regularly.
I have not yet seen the movie but friends who did told me it's brilliant.

Justin

Looks like an A3000 to me. Definately a big box keyboard, but the case under the monitor looks taller than a 4k, and I think I can make out that funny rebate/big groove that the 3k had.

OK.. just had a play with Photoplop to try and see WTF it is..

It just looks too tall to be a 4000, but maybe that`s just the angle the pic was taken..

It is definently an A 4000 D in a big box.

That is there is a box (probably made of wood) wrapped around the A 4000 D

Brighten the area with the A 4000

Good work :-)

That looks like a Commodore brand monitor too!

Definitely a 'Mig. It can only be an A4000. Which is a good job 'cause I already submitted it to the gallery ;-)

I only just noticed this shot. What's the software they're using? Anyone?

The monitor's not Commodore branded, it says something like 'Electronome' or 'Electrohome' on it.

Alright, I can't help it, I need to know and it's killing me!

What is that... puppet... thing... guy in your user icons?  I love him!  Er, her.  It.  Whatever it is.

It must be some fantastic cultural reference that I don't understand because I'm on the wrong side of the pond!

Please, I beg of you to satisfy my curiosity!

It's Zippy from the kid's TV program 'Rainbow.' It was cancelled in the early nineties, apparently because Bungle (a big bear) was caught shagging someone in his bear suit.

Oh thank you thank you thank you!  Now I can stop clawing my hair out.

It's a shame that I grew up on American childrens' television instead of British childrens' television.  Well, at least we had our imported Danger Mouse for a while!

 :-D

(P.S.: Did you know that Bob the Builder is popular with the kids over here now, except that they've given him an American accent?  I find it both sad and amusing that they had to dub the show from English into English.  I suppose it's because American children wouldn't know what a lorry was, or something.)

yeah, that does look familiar. i wonder if it's that old page filpping software that was used by Disney.

(not the page flipping software invented by R&D L Productions - LightBox - and which was later incorporated in DPaint 4 or whatever it was)
