Title: No more super hi-res or other screenmodes after IndiECS flash
Post by: TheBilgeRat on April 18, 2013, 01:29:22 PM
Attempted flashing my IndiECS to 1.10 to use the 800x600 mode.  After it finished and a cold reboot I had nothing but NTSC and PAL at Hi-Res and lower.  Figured the best thing to do was to reflash to the original 1.01.  Still the same.

Anyone ever heard of this?  Something simple to fix, I hope.

Well, looks like I sorted it out.  I just ran a "default config" on the ECS config tool and all the screenmodes came back

OK, I'm going to try 1.10 again and see if I can't get SuperPlus up and running...

I don't see a reason why it won't run.
I've been using it from day 1 without a single issue and I believe so that other users as well.

Excuse my ignorance. By flashing the Indivision ECS you can get better resolutions is that correct. I'm assuming this is like upgrading a BIOS and great care should be taken.

Upgrading to the 1.10 firmware allows you to use new display modes like SuperPlus - 800x600x16 colors.  It worked fine on mine once I figured out that the firmware file for upgrading had to be located in the same directory as the flash utility in order for it to load.  The firmware flash utility does also allow you to backup your current firmware.  Always make a backup!  ;)  After that just double click on or drag the new drivers into your Devs/Monitors directory and they should show up in your ScreenMode preferences and be selectable by any software that allows you to select screenmode.  Deluxe Paint in 800x600 was pretty slick!  ;)

And on a semi-related side note, it would be nice if Jens would make this latest firmware, latest version of the flash tool, and latest monitor drivers available as a download package on his website, instead of having to hunt through Google, websites that aren't in English, etc., to find everything, and then crossing our fingers that it will work.  :-/

I guess since it's copyrighted stuff someone couldn't just upload this all to Aminet, could they?  Ah, Amiga.  Making us all into hardware hackers since 1985!  ;)

Well, I could only find the updated firmware and monitor dev.  I am on version 0.9 of the flash/config tool.  The config tool doesn't exit, so I'm never sure if its done before I power cycle :)

Also - 800x600x16 is rather glorious, even if it eats a bit of my chipmem :)
