Title: Get AROS Live 1.5.1 online via USB stick...
Post by: AmigaClassicRule on April 05, 2013, 11:45:02 PM
Hello,

I am setting up my old motherboard with 1 TB HD and I want to install AROS Live 1.5.1 CD native into the HD. Then I want to donate this computer to school for kids so they can browse the internet, play games, watch movies, but also through AROS they will no longer have to deal with virus, spy-ware, and unwanted programs installed in the system. However, my motherboard does not have WiFi support (I don't know if there are any motherboard that does come with WiFi support) so I want to use a USB WiFi and hook into the USB port...so kids can go online, download movies or games for AROS.

Do you guys recommend a 100% compatible USB WiFi that works with AROS Live 1.5? Thanks in advance.

P.S "Also is there any instructions into how to dual boot between AROS and Ubunutu and make AROS the default OS during boot time? Thanks."

Firstly, there's no such thing as AROS 1.5.1 :)
AROS itself is only labelled with dates and architecture. What I suspect youre talking about is icaros, which is an aros distro. A little pedantic maybe, but its a pet peeve of mine. Calling it AROS 1.5.1 is akin to referring to Ubuntu as "Linux 10.1" (or whatever revision number).

As for your question atheros 5xxx wireless (wifi) chipsets are well supported by aros. This support can be added via a pci card. USB wireless isnt as cut and dry, and to be honest I gave up trying as it was cheaper to get something that I knew worked than it was to try a bunch of usb modems hoping to get it working. If its intended target is a school then its probably worthwhile having a supported wired nic too.
