Hi,
can anyone tell me if the A600 with Kick 1.3 is 100% compatible with the A500?
My only intend is to run all the old Games but I would prefere the smaller A600 over the A500.
I plan to use a HxC Floppy Emulator to access all the ADF files.
Thanks
shibby

No it's not. You don't have a numeric keypad which was used by some flight simulators at least.
Also there are probably some games that don't like ECS.
The lack of c00000 memory might stop you from running a game that needs 1mb.
But there are some games that don't work with 1.3 anyway & need 1.2.
The small case of the a600 is nice though.
If you used WHDLOAD then the games are usually patched to work better on newer hardware.

Er,
Keypad -- true.
ECS -- never heard that before.
Memory -- the game usually stated that or had 2 versions.
WB 1.2 -- never heard that before.
WHDLoad -- true.
You want compact size? You want to run from ADF's? Then run UAE on a netbook.

I've heard of that before...games not working on KS1.3 but working on KS1.2 fine. Not sure what games they are though, and I doubt they'd be that good because they'd be so old.
ECS had fatter Agnus which meant 1MB chip memory (A500Plus for example), and some old games don't like more than 512k chip memory (or any fast memory for that matter).

also consider Minimig 1.1 vs HXC and real Amiga... even smaller and probably more compatible.
Like you can disable chip down to 512, run different kickstarts, OCS modes, etc..

@paul1981
Also, some games did not mask out all the reserved bits of existing registers. When ECS made use of those bits ... things went a bit hairy.

bbond007:
Thanks for menitoning the Minimig. I did not know that.
Just had a quick look at a youtube video yet but from that it looks interesting.
Basically for a little more money that I would spend on the HxC Floppy Emulator I would have the whole thing in small box. Cool!
So I understand, I can dump all my ADFs on the SD card and can mount them via the Minimig menue.
Right?
I am just a user who wants to play the old games.
I am not into the details of ECS, FastMem, c00000 memory and that stuff.
But nevertheless: Many thanks to everyone for the detailed answers!!!

Pretty much, just put the ADFs on the SD. I have a 4mb one (with arm) so I also have a 4GB HDF full of whdload games.
You also get a builtin flickerfixer/scandoubler so 15hz video is not an issue. In turbo mode it ramps up to A3000 speed with faster than AGA gfx:) great for Frontier.
